05 vibe(base) about 119,000 miles on it.
airbag malfunction light in front of driver stays lite when driving.

when starting engine
passenger airbag indicator light on center dash = ""Off Airbag On " lite.

soon after the Off and On will disappear . but "Airbag" light lite remains


if a passenger is seated and buckled = ""Airbag On" "lite.

Shouldn,t the indicator read= "Off Airbag " when no one is seated on passenger side.

pontiac vibe owners manual says when all the passenger airbag indicator lights are out there,s a problem.
Any of you guys had similiar.
I unplugged the smallest airbag plug under the seat and replugged and no help.

As I recall Off and On will only appear if there is something or someone in the seat. If you belt a little kid in (not that you should) the front seat, it will say off. Same if you put a heavy item on the seat.

Are there any outstanding airbag or clockspring recalls for your vehicle?

we already did a couple of airbag recalls.
none outstanding at this time.

I flat out don,t trust the dealer for anything.
and I,m having a hard time finding a local shop that has the necessary scanner to check it.

it makes sense that the passenger airbag "OFF" light would be showing when the airbag is disabled.

Correct !!! To further clarify, 60 lbs (27 kg) is the threshold. Anything less than this and the airbag remains inactive and dash indicator shows "off". Anything above this and the airbag becomes active and the dash indicator states so. At least that's for the 09/10 Vibes!
