If anyone who is in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area wants to test the auto time update feature on your radio, tune to KUOW 94.9 NPR radio. For those of you whow haven't used it or don't know how, press the "H" & "M" buttons in the lower left of the radio face simultaneously and in a few seconds the radio will display "TIME UPDATED" I was up there last week and found this out by accident. Pretty cool.

Hillsboro is near Portland OR. But I travel monthly to the SEA/TAC area. What that does is adjust the time on your radio to the correct time that is being broadcast by the station. I haven't found a station here in the Portland area that you can use auto update on.

Both are useful sources for info.I had read about this radio feature in the owners manual, but never messed with it. The radio seems to keep reasonably accurate time, and I tend to stay in the same time zone. But, after reading that jlynam had found a station that got this to work, I tried too, and there's no station in my area that has the right signal. Just get "no update" when I try. I don't need the feature, but if the radio supports it, I want to be able to play with it. Not worth driving to Seattle to set my clock though.

I found a station out of Richmond VA that does this, 102.1. "The X" shows up in the display, but no info/traf or any other visible indication that the time signal is present. What is it that makes radio stations think they are cool if they refer to themselves with X or Z? I had replaced my stock CD unit with a CD/Tape out of a Matrix. When I get the time update, the display just says "UPDATED". Yours (and the owner's manual, yes I checked) say the message would be "TIME UPDATED" an interesting subtle difference. Had some fun messing up the time and then using the function to reset it. (Got a long commute, and easily amused)next on my list of radio features to verify is the AF ON/OFF. You said you got your time signal from 94.9 which was NPR. Here, all of the NPR and other public stations are under 92. Even get C-SPAN radio out of DC on 90.1. Don't get any RDS on any of the public radio stations around here though.
