Anyone have a website they want to share?

Many of us have webspace available to us and maybe have made use of it. I recently took my first stab at building a website. If you have a personal website that you wish to share with others here, feel free. Here's mine.
http://members.rogers.com/labradogs1/PauLeesPage.htmlMy first attempt, so go easy on me. There are several links to click on that take you to another page with images. I update it fairly regularly. Enjoy and tell me what you think and any suggestions.

So what are you folks using as hosts? I know there are a ton of companies out that offer domain hosting. A lot of them have filesystem and bandwidth quotas. What kinds of deals do you get?

Most web hosts like that (what they call "virtual" hosts or domain hosts) are not going to have templates. Yahoo I think does, but they are very much an exception. However, you could use something like Dreamweaver to design a page. I'd highly recommend learning HTML, though, even if you elect to use a WYSIWYG editor at first, because you wouldn't believe the control it affords you over the look of your pages. Right now I'm using the templates in my .Mac account because I can basically just open up iPhoto, highlight some pictures in the library, and hit "HomePage" and it'll automatically create a web slide show out of them. Super easy. So, it basically depends on what you want to put on your page as to how hard it's going to be to program it... basic text is easy, but when you get into tables and fancy looks, it can get complicated fairly quickly.

WYSIWYG is nice, but I need a DWIMNWIS editor. I mean how many times on a computer would you trade "What You See Is What You Get" for some "Do What I Mean Not What I Say"?

I don't need it to do what I mean, because I know what to say. It's those DWIMNWIS web designers who cause problems with any browser except IE...IE is very much a "display what I meant to say" browser, while Netscape is far more literal. IE allows for sloppy coding. And that sloppy coding looks like absolute crap in any browser other than IE. That really drives me nuts...especially when they turn around and blame it on my Mac, when it's their sloppy coding that's the problem, not my computer. I had no problem taking my pages from PC to Mac, and IE to Mozilla then Safari later. No modifications were needed. 99% of web sites are fine on any platform, so it's not an impossible feat...yet that 1%...whoa...I've seen some positively seizure-worthy disasters.

I would rather use netscape, even though IE starts up faster, but I have had to switch to using IE for genvibe. I have a slow dial up, and have in line images turned off by default, but some people have godawful long image url's in their signature, which netscape doesn't wrap but IE does. For example, here's the url for a signature image in this thread.
http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0TwAAABYY ... 7602951The page looks normal in IE, but in netscape it makes the page so wide that I have to horizontallly scroll to see all the text in each post.It goes with what you said, a URL from a microsoft site is handled by the microsoft browser, but causes problems in netscape. How's it look on your mac?

I now have to scroll horizontally to read this post because the URL didn't wrap...LOL I'm using Safari as my browser, BTW.

http://1and1.com discussed at another site, looks like they are having a special for 3 years FREE, with lots of good quota numbers, if anyone is looking for a place to host stuff they might be worth checking out, but the free offer runs out 1/21/2004, so if you're interested, better hurry. some more discussion at this other pageI signed up for one, and will use it for some token things (hard to beat free). For the site where I actually have a domain, I've been using fatcow.com, which runs me $100/year.

http://www.webhostpalace.com/So what's up with ragingfish.com? All those pics you posted for all your how to's and ragingreviews are not there while your site is down. To bad the forum doesn't let you display uploaded images, otherwise you could post them here and if you could read the post, you could see the pics.

Me and some of my friends made a website that we mess around with. It's been up for about one year and has begun to have a cult-like following.WARNING: This site occassionally contains graphic images.
