300K miles on my 2006 Vibe

My 2006 Pontiac Vibe rolled over the 300K miles yesterday.

The odometer seems to be stuck at 299,999 miles.

I bought it new off the dealership lot back in 2006 (2005?).

It has been a great vehicle. Still gets 31-33 mpg.
No major repairs, original shocks & suspension.

It is my daily driver from Flint Mi to Lansing Mi each day.

That's Awesome. It's hard for me to even keep a car that long. Let alone hit 300k miles. I did buy a 2003 VW Passat 5-speed Wagon with 249k on it and drove it 10k miles in 6 month until the 1,8t got the oil sludge problem and it lost oil pressure. I was hoping it hit 300k in that car and still never made it lol.

Glad you hit the 299,999 mark without any issues! Even better, no issues in the snow and cold of a snowbelt state. :)

Hard to believe you still have the original suspension. With the extra heavy trucks on Michigan (up to 11 axles!), seems the roads are always full of potholes and bumps. Could also just be all the freeze and thaw
What service mile interval did you go with on your path to 300k miles?

My front left shock puked all the oil out a month ago with 78k miles. I think it's more of the car is an 03 and the seals dried up because the car wasn't driven much though. But with 300k they have to be bad even if it was mostly highway miles.

Congratulations on the milestone! Unfortunately, the odometer on all 1st gen (2003-2008) Vibes does lock up at 299,999 miles or kilometers. Most people use the trip odometer to keep track of subsuquent miles and some have replaced their gauge clusters with lower mileage used ones.

Ah ... what a beautiful sight ;) Seeing how you hit the odometer limiter, with very few if any majoor issues, you should easily hit a half million miles within the next five years. Get involved here and keep us informed as you continue to rack up the miles ;)

It doesn't just seem like it's stuck... it is, and the dealership, GM, and Toyota won't fix it.

I successfully substracted 300000 miles from my 2003 Vibe odometer yesterday. This will help me track further oil change, filters, etc... I can understand why Pontiac/Toyota won't pay for this fix... It requires electronic skills :-)

Being a independant electronic technician , I am offering my help to this GenVibe community if you need this job done. Just contact me in private,

Cheers fellow Vibe friends,
Noisette

I am glad to know there is help available. So you brought it back all the way to -1. Are you at all willing to describe how you fix it?

Wow that's a lot of mileage.

I own a 2006 AWD which is a great car. Should I say was because last monday I took it to the garage shop. I've had noticed a slight rear left wheel camber. Bad news falling off: subframe is rotten... About a 2000$ repair... I am thinking of fixing it by myself and sell it back after but since I am driving in Canada it means a lot of de-icing salt will have already seriously altered both left and right rear subframe. I also presume that all bolts will be stuck in knuckles. So I am thinking of letting it go. :|

Sad because we loved the car, it has only 160 000 miles. Never got stuck anywhere, always safe and enough room for kid and big dog.

Got new brakes and rotors in front and back just before christmas. Sad it's now 600$ thrown away...

Does anyone had the same issue?

Not that this is relevent since this was a year ago, and this was your only comment... But, yes, the rear subframe is a known pain on the AWD's. The rear subframe on the following vehicles is identical:

99-06 Celica GTS (must be GTS, as that had the same IRS)
03-06 AWD Vibe/Matrix
09-10 AWD Vibe/Matrix or GT/XRS

The matrix was continued in Canada until 2013... I cannot confirm if the 10+ Matrix used the same rear subframe, though I would presume so.

Most parts interchangers do not list these as interchangeable. That could be due to some small bracket that one had, and the other didn't. Myself and others have confirmed the cross-fitment by doing the swap.

I hope this helps others who stumble on this post in the future.

My 2005 AWD is a Southern car, sees snow about once a year so I am glad that it is still rust free.

272,000 miles still going strong.
