I got my Vibe (base, automatic) on July 20/02 and after returning from my vacation, I've driven over 3,500 km. since the purchase. Perhaps you're interested in my fuel economy between my fill-ups (converted to mpg):25.68 (mainly city driving)30.67 (mainly city driving)33.84 (mainly highway driving)38.43 (100% highway driving)28.86 (highway, country roads)29.44 (higway, country roads)38.56 (100% highway driving)I think it's a very economical car!

I got 28.6mpg on my first tank. This was a mix of city and highway driving. My 2000 GA/GT did better.

I just filled up today and got 22.8 (that's up from 19 originally and 21 after the CAI addition). My guess is the engine is almost fully broken in now. Only 1,500 miles on it so far. Performance and mileage is increasing with every fill-up.

I've had my GT for a while now (5900mi) and I've been pulling in an average 22mpg with about a 25/75 (city/hwy) mix. This seems awfully low to me. I rather expected a little better than V6 mileage out of my little 1.8L. Don't get me wrong - I love my Vibe. I just find the mileage a bit... disappointing.

fairly poor at 25mpg? you do realize that most cars on the road now get at best like 27 strictly highway. most of my friends and fraternity brothers at school hate me because city driving i get near 26mpg in my GT. dont complain, i used to drive an s-10 with a 4.3L V6 at best all highway i got 24.i think the mileage is fine.yogi

I don't know why, but my first tank came in @ 36.9mpg, and the 2 after that have been 30 and 31. About 25% city, and 75 % 75-80mph I-75. (base 5-speed)

I can't believe the fuel economy so far. I was getting about 27 to 30 mpg initially but am now getting closer to 40 mpg in mixed driving (mostly highway). I have about 1400 miles on the car - 5 spd base with power package and moons and tunes package (Satellite). I am starting to like the car more and more. I am a Honda and Toyota guy and swore I would never buy an American car. I only bought this over the Matrix due to the rebate. I am getting convinced that this really is a Toyota and should be every bit as reliable. Please post more milage numbers.

2500 Km's or 1500 miles must be the magic number where the fuel mileage really jumps. I just went on a 700 MILE trip this weekend and averaged 40.14 MPG . Previously I was getting 27/28 MPG. What a jump all of a sudden. And that 40 MPG was with me cruising 130-140 Km/hr thru some pretty hilly country.

Well - just checked my tracking sheet, and it seems I'm averaging 26.6 mpg in mostly city driving. Mine is a base model with auto. And the car's just coming up an 1.5 years old, and a little over 23,000 kms.Not bad I suppose -- definately better than our preceeding SUV -- but still not the stellar numbers I was hoping for with the Vibe :->

genvibe affects my gas mileage. It goes way down after I read about superchargers, valve timings, turbos, gear ratios, dynomometers. I drive normally if I don't think about this stuff, and then my gas mileage is better
