No. You want a 2003-2008 Vibe GT or Matrix XRS 6 speed (or Corolla S whatever got that trans). Trans code C60. Straight bolt in. Same axles. If you get a Matrix one, you need to remove a plug to use the speed sensor from your Vibe. Get the shift knob, too.
I did this swap in my 2004 after my 5 speed grenaded. The fluid was black and chunky with metal bits when I drained it.

My mistake, I thought the title said 2009. I'm not sure if the 2014 corolla transmission will work in gen 1.

My 2007 just went at 160,000. Sounded like a diesel when accelerating in 3rd 4th and 5th. I put a 6 speed in from an 04 gt. I am happy with it. But your fuel mileage is going to suffer. I was getting 34 mpg and now it's 30. I even went up a tire size to 215 55 16 to try to help with the 6th gear ratio and the tires fill up the wheel wells with no rubbing. The motor is turning 3200 rpm at 70. However in traffic the car has alot more pep and alot of fun to drive. I really dont notice shifting any more than with the 5 speed. To me it was worth switch.
