Sonny's got a whole new Vibe

The "lugnut" didn't fall far from the tree! My son just picked up his first Vibe. 2004 Vibe Base with 87,000 miles, one owner and no accidents. Body and interior are excellent, new looking tires, and the underside showing normal rust for Wisconsin (nearly identical to my 05 Base).
Purchased from a Cadillac dealer who didn't want to repair the brakes and water pump in-order to put it on his lot! We also found it needs a heater blower resistor since the blower fan only runs on "high" setting.
Car runs flawlessly, but may have Emission issues because he(son) found the charcoal canister vent had been "plugged" with a socket set extension! Any guesses on this? Cheat to pass emission testing is my guess. He removed this "plug" and he is now waiting for codes to appear.
His Vibe has the gray cladding.

Congrats! Looks really nice, and the cladding looks good on it. As for the evap cannister, mine was throwing several codes and I ended up getting a $30 used one from a Corolla at my Pick a Part yard, I think 03 or 04 model, that was a direct fit for my 03 GT. Cleared the codes right up and "knock on wood", no codes since. But maybe he will be lucky and it won't throw any codes.

Good luck with it!

Looks like a great start with low miles for the model year.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I will start a new thread on the Evap. situation when I can get a picture of the socket extension stuck in the canister vent line.

Looks good. Transmission ??? Manual or stick? Looks good and should last him several years of trouble free driving!

Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that it has an automatic transmission. And I'm also a fan of silver, er, Satellite? Nothing hides dirt better.
He put new front brakes in it Wednesday. Calipers, pads, hardware and had the rotors turned. He hasn't checked rear brakes yet. The parking brake works normally, so the rear brakes should last until he has a chance to take a look at them.
I need to go to the junkyard to find him a hood prop-rod grommet - So he doesn't have to use a snow-brush to hold up the hood!
