Plaza Pontiac dealership (Yorkdale) - AVOID AT ANY COST!!!

Their "Certified Goodwrench Technicians" don't know how to rotate unidirectional tires! I left their service bay with the direction of the front tires going one way and the rear going another. As this is not enough, once the service was done, they took my car to the back of the lot and parked it. After half an hour since the service was done I asked for my car and they didn't know where it was. They had to go search for it. Then I tell them I'm not paying for the #$!$ up with the rotation, so they RELUCTANTLY agree to take it out of the invoice. Want to know how much I paid for a simple oil change? 68 #$%^ dollars, even though the price of $34.95 is posted everywhere in their shop. Their reason for the ridiculous price? The filter costs 29.95 because it's a special kind of filter! Can you believe that bull****? Here's the invoice breakdown, $17.95 for labour, 29.95 for the filter, 8.20 for oil, 2.80 for disposal of old oil, and 15% tax. I did my first oil change at a local garage and they charged me 29.95 + tax.So the moral of this long story is ... STAY AWAY FROM PLAZA PONTIACThe sad part is that even though they were aware that I was extremely disapointed and pissed off with their service, I never got a "we apologize for our mistake, we'll gladly correct it". The felling I got was more like "You don't like the service? FU, go elsewhere !"

I have just forwarded a link of this page to Plaza Pontiac's President. If your reading this, Mr. President, please be aware that the customer service at your dealership is comparable to the service you get at McDonalds, NONE. Also be aware that I will be telling of this incident to anyone who does or will be taking their vehicle for service at your dealership.By the way, in regards to the free car wash with any maintenance? After half an hour of waiting for my car to be washed, suprisingly I got my car back in the same condition as when I brough it in.I've had it with bad customer service. Your service advisors (in particular Frank Menotti) pissed off one customer too many. If you are to answer to this complaint, which I think you should if you still believe in customer service, please be aware that any communication will be posted in this forum.Would you like fries with that, sir?

quote: The feeling I got was more like "You don't like the service? FU, go elsewhere !"That seems to be the credo of General Motors Canada in general. Not only in the service department but also on the sales floor. Add Royal Pontiac in Mississauga to that list.

Well I can add to that list Don't go to Cliff Mills or Ontario Motor Sales in Oshawa,,,, nothing but problems from them as well, I think their mechanics found a licence in a cracker jack box or something,,, last time I took my Vibe to cliff mills the moron doing the oil change told me that it couldn't be done because they don't stock toyota parts therefore "the car is not serviceable"

I have no idea. The cost to get my oil change on my Vibe at the Pontiac dealer was the same cost to get my oil changed on my Cavalier at the Chevy dealer.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=1095I thought it was weird because I took my car for my first oil change at the dealership and paid an arm 'n a leg for it. Then I took it took the establishment that worked on my old car and they said the filter was listed as regular 4-cylinder Toyota, and was a regular oil change!

I've got the same problem with my dealer.I paid $62 for my 1st oil change. After talking with the service manger and the part guy, they gave me a credit. The finla answer was: " The mecanic didn't know what filter put on your car, so he put the Toyota filter ($29,95) instead if the Delco. There's the entire story:

Well, it's been two weeks and no answer form the dealership regarding the e-mail I sent to the president. I guess their service department is only as good as the dealership president is. They both SUCK!!! Maybe I'll send him another e-mail, perhaps not as courteous and civilized as the first one. Thanks to all for their feedback.

Not really. I went to Ken Shaw Toyota for an oil change and was denied service. The idiot at the service desk told me they wouldn't know what filter to use on a Pontiac. He's either ignorant and stupid or a #@!$%^*# #&hole.

Just curious about this....Could it be an agreement between GM and Toyota not to service the others make?Things that make you go "humm"

Just read your issue and it is exactly what I experienced at Plaza. The 1st time Ihad service there, they told me ahead of time that the filter was 30 bucks. I declined it because I had paid normal 30$ prices at other GM dealer. The option is there to get the 'after-market' aka cheaper filter. The 2nd time they just went ahead and put the expensive filter on. I havn't had a chance to call them back yet to *****. However, other service issues included their fix to noise coming from the front left tire was to rotate it to the right rear, where we can't hear it, as much..... They also have yet to give me the free car wash as advertised on 2 separate visits.Further to the oil change issue, I have had talks with more than 1 service manager regarding the maintenance schedule. My argument has always been that the vibe is basically equal to a corolla and a matrix with respect to almost all mechanics and even electronics. However toyota only requires an oil change to honour warranty every 8000KM where as GM is adamant about every 5000km. Same car, same parts. IN addition, you all may have recieved a revised maintenance pkg about a year ago, stating that if your vehicle has an oil life monitor, then you don't need an oil change until the computer tells you that you need one (in most case the pc won't calculate a service requirement unitl well after 8000km.) So if you judge your driving habits to be 'normal' why can't we go 8000km without upsettig warranty requirements. To top it off, no vibe model comes equipped with an oil life monitor and it is not an option. GM, who sent me the specific new service plan regarding the monitor didn't even recognize that it was applicable to the vehicle I purchased. All it did was high light the fact that GM service is as good as McD's.The only reason I bought the vibe was because it was a Toyota at heart and because I was eligble thru a retired family member for an emplyee discount.Happy with the car, hate the service I've received at 3 different dealers, mostly PLAZA!

welcome to genvinbeThe owners manual lists the oil change interval depending on whether you fit the short trip/cityy duty model or the long trip/highway model. For short trip/city, the interval is every 3000 miles / 5000 kmFor long trip/highway, the interval is every 7500 miles/12,500 kmYou know whether you usage best fits short or long trip schedule. A dealer or an oil change place will often tell you that you need to get it changed sooner than required by the official maintenance schedule, to get you to come in more often, but if you change the oil at least every 12500 km, they should have to honor the warranty.Almost all of my miles are highway type, not city, so I fit the long trip schedule. Even with light duty usage, I wouldn't go 12500 km between changes unless I was using synthetic oil, but the point is that according to the owners manual, I should be OK every 12,500 km.

Oh you got that right. The Toronto dealers are the worst I'll tell you.I experienced exackly the same thing with Old mill, Popham and my home dealer Royfoss. every time I went to get something serviced I ended up paying for something that I never needed. once you buy the car you are on your own, and speaking of the oil changes, i got riped off as well so I started to do my own oil change the filter is 10 back at toyota dealer or zelers even sells fram for 5. It's ridiclous how they literally rip you off all the time and this is only about the oil change think about some other services. One think is for sure that GM canada will fold their sails soon cause the word is out and thanks to this wonderfull forum we can all share our problems with them and perhaps a positive change will hapen.

As a service advisor and Vibe owner, I hear you all loud and clear. Unfortunatly even my parts manager has high prices for his Vibe oil filters. But you talk to any 03 Grand Am, 03 Sunfire, 03 Cavalier and Vibe owner with these new engines and for the most part all their filters are pricy. I've complained about the price because how can I say "$29.95 for the oil change but it could come to $45.50 if you have the new filter." and not come across as an (removed)? I don't buy the "cost of oil has gone up" and I do not expect customers to as well. My parts manager has brought the price down some. But yeah a Vibe GT filter was going for a good $29.95 alone. AWD and regular Vibes were from $11.95 to $20.95 or in that range. I can't count how many times I have complained about part prices. How can I be better then the competition when they charge less?I get 20% off parts and plan on doing all my own oil changes and just buy the parts I need to make the cost a little lower. Sometimes (though I believe I have some of Canada's best techs working in my shop) you can't get something done right unless you do it yourself.
