New to Group

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2006 Vibe with 181K on it. I also have a 2006 Matrix with 120K that I bought new in March of 2006. I guess I've always liked the Matrix and figured why learn a new car when I needed a second?

From the sound of things, I need to replace the Vibe's stabilizer bushings. There are already enough threads on this that I think I will figure it out. Still, looks a little more complicated than on others that I've done (like a Camry).

Thanks!

Bill

Welcome to genvibe!

What symptoms did your Vibe have that led you to needing bushings?

Welcome to GenVibe Bill. Can't help you much on your question BUT would love to see pics of your "cousins" next to each other ;) Post pics of them when you get a chance!

Welcome, Bill!

Are you sure the sound of things are the bushings? Bad bushings caused a creaking door noise in a '86 Cavalier. Knocking noises were caused by bad sway bar links in our '98 Mazda Protege. If you have knocking and the knocking goes away when cornering you can be reasonably sure it is caused by bad sway bar links. When cornering they are under load and don't knock.

When I hit a bump there is a rattle that sounds exactly like the problem I had in a 98 Camry. With 180K, I suspect the bushings and links need replaced.
