Radio goes out

I have an '09 Vibe GT. Has anyone else had their radio do weird things when it's cold out? I lived in Iowa last year and every now and then my car radio would go black in the winter. Granted the windchill was -40. Now I'm living in Colorado and the radio acts weird sometimes. The other day I got a fuzzy screen when it was 15 outside. The radio showed a couple of weird designs on the screen. Then I heard a clicking sound and all the sudden the display was normal. The interior of the car was probably warm at that point. Has anyone had this happen? Image

When it went blank, were you still able to hear the radio and adjust the volume and other settings, or was the whole radio out. From your picture it looks like a display driver issue. When the display components are cold could be a bad connection, as everything warms up the components flex back into a position where the connection is re-established.

Weirdly enough all the buttons still worked. The screen didn't change no matter what I did though. I turned the radio off and it continued to show weird designs on the screen. It seems it's just the display.

We've never experienced this with either of our Vibes, but that screen is definitely pretty crazy looking :|.

This is my second Vibe and the first one never did this. I wish I would've taken a picture of the other designs the display showed. If I had been more sleep-deprived I would've thought it was aliens.

Wow, that is weird! Never had any issues with the radio on my 10 GT, but I have seen many pictures from 09-10 Vibes for sale where only part of the display was working. It was like the display is split into 4 or 5 sections, and only one or two sections were working. I don't know if it is similar to the burned out back light bulb issue on the 03-08 radios or not, but I thought the newer ones had a different type of display. Strange for sure!

Hmmmmmmm ... No issues here on the Ohio/Michigan border. It has to be some sort of connectivity problem. Maybe there is a ribbon cable or some sort of other connector that is just barely making connection. Also maybe this radio was a refurb'd unit for one of the many radio's that were repaired/replaced due to the broken knob issue we've all experienced!
