03 GT Remote Start

Hello all,
I'm looking for suggestions on how to install a neutral switch in to the vibe.

I've installed a remote starter into my 2003 Vibe GT and everything works fine, but my heart always stops when I go to press the remote start button sense it's a manual transmission and I'm still trying to brake the habit of leaving it in gear. So far I haven't done it, but I know if I start it while it's in gear that it will take off forward.

The remote start does have a wire for a "kill" switch for a neutral switch. So if the vibe is in gear that it will be contacted to ground and won't let the remote start engage.

But from what I've seen of the sifter, it's next to impossible to make something to work as a neutral switch.

Please give me some suggestions before I have to pull the remote starter out. :(

I once installed a remote start in my friend's Tacoma. I ended up using the parking brake light as a kill switch. If the light wasn't lit, it wouldn't start.

There was also a really interesting youtube video I saw a while back where the guy wired up that neutral switch to two sensors mounted inside the shifter mechanism and one mounted on the shift knob shaft. The way he had it was so that if the car was in gear the magnet on the shaft would knock out the circuit in the neutral safety switch by making a connection with the sensor mounted on the mechanism. Pretty ingenious if you ask me, but it would be very fiddly to set up and align properly...
