Pontiac would be happy to void your warranty after one 35,000 mile oil change, wouldn't they? I don't know about a discount on the oil.Admin II ADMINISTRATOR is an expert on that. Contact him herehttp://forums.genvibe.com/zeromsg?cmd=send&id=79

They can't void your warranty for that. And Derek was kind enough to point out to me that if any damage DOES occur to the engine, and it's proven that the oil and/or infrequent changes were the cause, AMSoil picks up the repair bills...

Mike, I wanted to continue the old one and ask about the discount but the thread was locked, This thread was asking about the discount when purchased through Genvibe.com. I don't know where warranty thing came from.

Not changing your oil is not grounds for voiding your warranty. It would have to be proven through oil analysis that the oil was the cause of the failure. If the oil analysis came back "still good for continued use" the warranty by law would have to be kept. There are federal laws that protect owners from this kind of thing. Another thing is that your dealer has no say in the matter, when it comes to your warranty. The dealer doesn't warranty your vehicle, there fore the manufacturer is the one that makes the call.Dealers unfortunately like to scare customers into thinking their warranty has been voided and then the owner ends up paying the bill. When this happens the dealership makes A LOT more money on the repair. When a vehicle is brought in and repaired under warranty the dealership doesn't make anywhere near what they would if it wasn't warranty work. This is another reason why dealers try to scare customers with the "your warranty is voided" staying. This is just a example but lets say you install a CAI. Well you'll have to remove the stock plastic intake. Since you removed the MAF sensor and temp sensor and relocated them for this upgrade they are most likely no longer covered under your warranty. Now this by law is the only thing not covered by the original manufacturers warranty. If a engine problem happened the only way the manufacturer could legally void your warranty is if they could PROVE that the mod caused the problem.I hope that helps clear up the warranty questions, and makes you all feel better. I own a 2001 Kia Spectra. It's got the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. I have in huge letters on the rear window "This vehicle only requires oil changes every 35,000 miles" I have been to 4 different dealership, because of moving around for the military. I have never had any issues with non warranty coverage. I have a custom (homemade) CAI, 170 degree thermostat, rewired one of the radiator fans so it stays on all the time to keep the coolant cooler, slight exhaust mods, and AMSOIL in the engine and trany. They know I do 35,000 mile oil changes and 90,000 mile automatic transmission fluid changes. I also use a much larger oil filter than what the vehicle calls for.None of this matters. Again for the warranty to not be honored it must be proven the mods I have done caused the problem. I could install a high efficiency duel guard bypass filtration system and go well beyond 80,000 miles or longer with out ever changing the oil. Just changing the filters when needed and if a oil analysis came back that the oil was good they would by law have to honor my warranty.I have more in detail info posted here.http://www.performancemotoroil.com/Warr ... uson.htmAs for getting genvibe members a discount as much as I would like AMSOIL Inc. controls their prices and doesn't allow their dealers to set their own prices. Now with that said there is a program that allow customers to purchase all their AMSOIL products at dealer cost! I agree with your reasoning 100% Extended changes should never void the warranty when synthetic oil is used. When I recently asked the Toyota dealer service manager if I would still have to have the oil changed every 5000 kilometers if I swiched to synthetic, of course he said absolutely! And if I didn't change the oil at 5000 kilometer intervals, would that effect my warranty, I asked. Absolutely! he said, your warranty would be null and void. Sounds like your argument is firmly backed up in U.S. law, but I wonder if the same consumer protection would apply in Canada? I don't even think a law is necessary really. It's just good common sense to use synthetics. Cheaper in the long run, easier by far on the evironment (less oil disposal), better for your car etc. The dealerships are only concerned about their bottom line.

A dealer is going to say it would void your warranty. They lose money when you don't come in every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. The more you come in the more they make. They use fear as a way to comtrol customers.Fear works pretty good huh? Research this for yourself. As for Canada I would think you must have some kind of law that protects a consumer. You'd have to look into this. I only know about the U.S. Federal law I quoted on my website.

Admin II, We kinda got sidetracked here. The thread was asking if a discount is available on AMSOIL products available through genvibe.com and if so which items are available. Thanks

Thanks for reading that for me. I lost my train of thought in the first few paragraphs. I guess I should read ALL the words when someone replies.
