Boom!

ok, so i went camping about a month and a half ago. the last night we were there, it was getting a little late, so we had by then had a few cold beverages. we came up with the idea to see what would happen to a beer bottle with water in it and the cap on if we threw it in the fire. i figured that the cap would simply shoot off, since it isn't made to be re-applied. well, about 15 min went by...nothing. finally, it started to hiss loudly. i'm standing right next to the fire. i said "it sounds like a bottle rocket!" - just then, exactly right after i said that, BOOM!!! the bottle exploded, and the ground literally shook! i could hear glass hitting the precious vibe and the other cars. stunned, for a few seconds, i finally snapped out of it, and felt the warmness dripping onto my chest. i had a cut on my face and my elbow. everyone else was fine. after a cigarette and a fresh beer, i was able to laugh about the whole thing. i still have the scar on my face. (my uncle called me scarface for weeks)

When you have kids, you'll have nightmares that they will try some of the stuff that you did when you were their age.

When I tried that thirty or so years ago (actually, just tossed a still- capped bottle of beer into the fire), the same thing happened, except that the burning embers fell on several surrounding tents and we had to rush around putting them out...I guess some things never change...

quote:Sounds funny, but Sputnik is right, you would of lost an eye..Also, you coulf of caught a piece of glass windpipe or jugular in your neck and bleed to death or choke to death.. Then I do not think you would be laughing.Granaids have metal and glass pieces in the, and have killed or injured people in the many ways. All I could think is of the Coalition Troops being killed in Iraq from that sort of thing.. The fact of the matter is that i am ok, that is why it is funny to me. i never suggested that anyone should take the whole family out and do it. the reason it's funny is because it was so stupid to do in the first place. *public service announcement* -beer impairs ones ability to rationalize

i am adminitingly immature, when it is ok to be. i live my life to the fullest, and don't let other people's opinions rain on my parade. i don't want any beef w/you or anyone else here. i just want respect that i deserve. i joined this forum because my job is boring and way to easy, this helps pass the time. i can't stand it when i get ridiculed for my posts, especially when they are in the humor section. i don't believe that i violate any of the rules, so why must i catch hell? (2 posts deleted, who knows, maybe this one next)this is all i want to say on this, don't want a strung out argument over nothing.i declare peace

this expierment will be tried again, just for kicks. however, next time, there will be objects between me and the bottle, and we've even discussed eyewear.

dumb, yes. but, in a safe environment, with noone around, and with proper protective measures, completely harmless. bungee jumping is also dumb, but wouldn't you love to try it?

i have common sense, thank you. what's the most exciting on the edge thing you've ever done? turning a library book in late?

I have never turned a book back late. I have blown things up like you and also probaly done stupid things worse than you can imagine like shocking myself with a stun gun (while drinking with friends of course) so next time don't freak out when someone has an opinion, just stand back when something is going to explode! Did not mean to offend you just stating an opinion as everyone has one.

aight den, we coo! just sounded a bit sassy thats all. i have no prob w/opinions. i really didn't think it would explode! especially after it started to hiss and spray steam, i figured the cap would shoot off.tell about the stun gun! please!

quote:Yeah you were very lucky. You could have lost an eye. Makes me think of the movie A Christmas Story, and the all time famous line,"YOU'LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT!"Just as an aside drunkenvibe, and this is NOT ridicule or attack, but merely a statement -- I'm 22. Never had a drink. Never smoke a cigarette. Never done a drug. I'm not feeling old, or mature, or even like I haven't enjoyed my youth. My point being, people who opt not to drink, or drink socially only, may not share the same enjoyment you do in getting drunk. Don't take it personally. People just feel differently about things...it's what makes this world so diverse...

Stun guns hurt bad. They contract your muscles to the extreme in the area where it is applied. It really is a painful experience. Ever had a leg of foot cramp, well that is a swedish massage compared to the stun gun. Enjoy if you dare . And if you can find one somewhere

now that is dumb! stunning yourself? actually, at our sportsman show every year, there's a booth showing differnet personal protection devices. they have some dumb guy stand there and tell him if he can still stand after the stun, then he gets it for free. you wouldn't believe how many tough guys try and show off only to be reduced to little slobbering fools on the mat underneath. most just fall down wrenching while the onlookers laugh. ... ha ha, dumba$$! you'd think they'd learn after watching 5 other guys go down in front of them.

Ok Now--I have some comments that I want to make right now . But before I spill my beans let me think on this sensitive subject for at least overnight and then I will respond. Rather than bash you right now-----let me think and give you some pointers. Hey I understand what it is like to do wierd things ----Lord knows I did mine but now I am 50 years old and --gosh --I think back and say ---"How Dumb".Rearding your subject--Water in a sealed bottle will send flying glass due to expansion-You could of seriously hurt yourself or someone else..-------------But for now please let us hear of your Vibe and Vibe topics and believe me if you talk VIBE --nobody will bash you.Think about it and look for my response or IM later. i talk vibe occasionally, in the other forums. i don't know much about cars at all. i am learning a lot about them on this site however. as far as talking vibe in the humor forum, it's not necessary, this forum is for funny stuff, and i can't find much humor that relates to the vibe, there is nothing funny about the almighty beast!

But over time, with the help of this awesome community, and some persistance (and major screwups, of course), I have learned lots...and still have SO much more to go!No fear -- you'll learn about your car from this place...just don't be afraid to look under the hood, and even do some installs yourself...you won't learn as much reading about installs as you will doing them yourself.

Have to be aware of the predator-prey scenario also. Some of us seems harmless, but we can be deadly. [/QUOTE]deadly in a forum? *he types a knife lunging at drunkenvibes throat. he now prepares to eat drunkenvibe. maybe he shouldn't have posted such a stupid thread, now he has been eliminated from the circle of life. i am at work when i post these, so i'm just high on coffee! all you get is tylenol?? that's not fair.are they at least tylenol 3's or something? those have codein (sp?). I had 18 screws and two plates added to my leg 2 years ago, and they gave me vicodin. i couldn't imagine dealing with that with just tylenol.*ps - people always tell me i'm twisted (ate up, weird, crazy, etc...)

the vicodins gave me cramps too. the morphine is a very bad thing IMO. they gave it to me every 3 hours. it is so addictive, i would wake up in the night shaking and breathing heavily, needing a fix!

Somewhat less dangerous than exploding glass is to take a piece of pipe, plug one end, pour some water in (just some, not full) and put a balloon on the other end, then lay it across the fire. A fun steam experiment, no flying razor sharp pieces of glass, but still a burn/scald risk. Gotta set the pipe so that the balloon end is higher than the plugged end, and not pointing at anyone. Also, when the balloon blows, you don't want to be too close. Also, totally boring by comparison to exploding bottles is to take a paper cup full of water and set it in the fire, then watch it not burn.
