Rear sway bar required re-torque

I installed front and rear Hotchkis bars a couple months ago and torqued everything down to specs. The last week or so, I noticed a "creaking" coming from the rear and so I thought I'd double check the torque on the bolts/nuts. I KNOW I torqued them down to 150lbs when I installed it, but when I put the torque wrench on them tonight, I needed to tighten them again about 1/3rd of a turn before it clicked off at 150. I don't know if the paint or something wore off the bar or what, but if you installed a new rear bar, you may want to re-check the torque after a thousand miles or so.I took it for a quick buzz, and creak is gone.

after you install any suspension components its good to go back and check them after you drive around in it for a little while.

LOL .. I was just about to do that tonight since I am getting the occasional creak when I first drive off in the morning with my Progress bar. I'll be changing the oil momentarily so I will retorque the sway bar bolts as well. Good timing on the post.

Cohocarl, we was going to re-torque your sway bar when you stopped by Saturday morning. LOL, we got carried away working on Aaron's springs. I do remember you asking me to used my torque wrench.

I forgot how difficult it is laying on your back, keeping the torque wrench seated on the nut so it won't slip off while you're trying to twist that nut to 150lbs. I was careful though....I wouldn't want to give myself a hernia.

The same thing happened to me. The right rear loosend up. I think that my neighbor is getting tired of me using his torque wrench.

Very ironic, I just started getting a creaking and slight clunking noise from the rear also. I wasn't sure, but I figured that's what it was. I just think its funny that this topic shows up just as I begin having the problem.
