Wifi Issue

I have used a Cisco Valet Plus wifi router for several years. A few days ago I could not connect to most websites. I could connect to gmail, to Facebook and to Linked-in. This was true on my desktop which has a hardwire connection from the modem through the router to the computer, and to my iPad. When I eliminated the Cisco router and just went from the modem to the desktop all was o.k. When I would reboot the modem and router the first attempt to connect to another website connection worked - but after that not.

I am thinking this could not be a desktop computer issue since it also affected the iPad. At present I am just connecting with my desktop as the wifi is bypassed so can't connect via the iPad.

Any computer experts here have a clue?

What also seems strange is that when I log on to genvibe I see ads/links for sites have recently visited. - e.g.Walmart, Trip Advisor.

If you know how to get to the router's settings, you may want to check to see if the firmware needs updating.

I reconnected via the the wifi router this evening and it is working again. I did check the firmware and the last update was in 2012 when I last updated. Computers are like wives/husbands, can't live with 'em and can't live without 'em.
