GenVibe - Community for Pontiac Vibe Enthusiasts

We have a 2006 Vibe and lately have noticed an exhuast smell in the cabin when we start the engine. The smell dissipates soon after but is noticeable enough to alarm the driver. The smell is especially noticeable after the car is turned off and then turned back on soon after (like after running into a convenience store)

Has anyone faced a similar issue and could you suggest where I start diagnosing the problem?

Could be a leak in a few different gasket spots.
-Where the exhaust manifold meets the engine
-Where the manifold meets the rest of the exhaust.
-Where the muffler meets the resonator

Listen to each area with the car running using some kind of extension (pvc pipe, broom handle).
