2006 Vibe Propeller Shaft

I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe AWD that I took off the road some months ago, because of an increasing growling noise coming from the Rear Differential. I have it for sale now, and I was wondering if the Propeller Shaft could be removed without any other implications so that the car could be run until the new owner was ready/able to make the repair? Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions that you may have.
