engine air filter clips broken

Hello all,

I was replacing my engine air filter today on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe and one of the clips holding the filter broke off. The other clip still works ok and from what I can tell the filter box is more or less closed. I was wondering the following.

1. Is it okay to leave this as is?
2. If not, will duct taping be sufficient or do I need to replace the box.
3. If so, is there a way to just buy a replacement clip and replace it or do I need to buy a new box?

Thanks in Advance

Could you post some pictures? Air filtration is important. If it's not sealing I would definitely replace it. You should be able to pick one up from a junk yard for about $15.

Depending on what clip it is and were it is broken at around the air box, you may be able to drill a hole in the lip of the parting line of the two box half's and pull the box shut with a wire tie. Finding a used one would be the better fix.
