...and LOVE it! I've wanted a Vibe for a while now, and it is worth the wait.
I recently took it in because the AC didn't work. They are saying its the compressor. Is this a usual problem? Also, there was physical damage to my left rear rotor. Had to replace it. What else usually goes wrong with 2004? It's got about 121000 miles on it.

Be forewarned, though, If you keep it for a long time the ODO will stop at 299,999 miles/kms.

Not much but plan on a new clutch, if it hasn't been replaced, very soon. Unfortunately the HVAC system is made by GM and expect an issue with the recir door. It's an easy fix for a DIY. May want to consider changing the Transmission Fluid and stay with GL-4 type. The other 95% of the car is made by Toyota. There's been a few safety recalls so you may want to do some checks.
Have you hit Lift Yet?
Good Luck

Congrats on the purchase! Yes AC compressor failures are one of the most common components of the system to fail. If the pulley locked up or broke away from the compressor shaft, you may be able to get away with just replacing the clutch. If there was an internal failure it's usually a good idea to flush the system and replace the condenser and expansion valve just in case metal shavings made their way into the system.

Welcome and congrats on your new Vibe! Too bad about the AC. I learned how to work on the systems since the AC went out on my Mustang, and the shop wanted $1,600 to fix it all! Heck no! It cost me about $700 for the parts to replace EVERYTHING in the system and it was working well 4 yrs later when the car was parked. Hopefully it won't cost you much to get it working again.
Good luck!
