Upgrading to 17 rims

I found a set of 17' rims and tires off of a cavalier and I'm wondering if they would fit well. I have 205/55/R16 on steels right now on my 2006 AWD. The 17" tires are 205/40/R17 and the rims are 17 X 7 ICON. Using this tire size calculator:
http://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1= ... m&scl=50mm

It looks like the overall wheel diameter would actually be smaller than what I have now. Opinions?

I would advise getting bigger tires. I have 17s with a stock tire size of 215/50/17. The general rule of thumb is up ten on width, down five on aspect ratio.

Good to know. The tires currently on the rims look practically brand new so I could probably sell them and get bigger tires to go on them.
