will it fit? Also have a speaker wire question

So this will be my first post. I bought a used 2009 vibe over the summer.

I ordered new speakers and am going to order an amp next paycheck. I am going to get this amp http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130GMD8604 ... l?tp=35782
I wont be ordering from crutchfield because other places have it for almost 100 bucks cheaper. Anyways my question is will that amp fit under the passenger seat? Several sites have different measurements for the amp for some reason. I kinda measured under the seat but it wasnt exact because there are like rounded edges and come rails for the seat and what not. So i am wondering if anyone has installed a similar amp or if anyone has measured it exactly.

My other question is what guage is the factory speaker wire? I ask because i need to extend the speaker wire to reach the speaker because i obviously cannot use the factory harness. I am going to extend it with just some 16 guage speaker wire. But i need to know what kind of (removed) connector to get. It looks like it may be somewhere between 22-18 guage.

Thanks for the help.

Hey, I'm looking to do the same with an amp under the passenger front seat.
The amp from the link looks like it should fit under there. I was measuring under there too. We do have some play with the length of the amp as it can stick out the back side on the rear seat floor as much as we want.

I like to leave the stock wire harness on, just so I can put the stocks back if I sell. Strip the wire with one of these tools so I don't have to cut it.

Split the wire for a couple inches, strip a section, wrap your new wire around the opening, solder, and tape. The only downside is you can't use shrinkwrap.
Not sure stock speaker wire gauge, but 18-22 is a good guess. (removed) connectors, spades, or hats come in sizes to cover that range.
Good luck with the install!

lol you can't say (removed) connectors

I ended up just using one side of blue (removed) connector and twisted the factory wire and my 16 guage speaker wire together and inserted in one end and crimped once at both ends. Works fine for now. Its only temporary until I get my amp installed. they will have to run new wire then.

I've installed a similar sized powered sub under the drivers seat. The JVC CS-BBS, it fit nice and neatly after I moved the bracket for the power converter and raised it up a few mm's.
The JVC I installed is: 11 5/8" x 2 1/2" x 7 7/8"
The Pioneer is slightly smaller at: 11" x 2 3/8" x 7 7/8"
Shouldn't be a problem.

I found that under seat mounting of amplifiers is more of a hassle than its worth. Pro: uses less space in trunk area and can hide the amplifier from site
Cons: Water from wet shoes, snow, salt if you live in ohio like me, and other debris can become a problem from people in the rear seats, not to mention they WILL kick you amp or wires if either are directly exposed... It becomes more of a problem than helping in my opinion. I had an amp installed for about three years under my ford escort Zx2 and it was functional when i removed it but it had many deposits and dirt and was pretty beat up from passengers, I even had a protective plate to prevent direct contact.... My current Vibe has the amplifiers mounted to the rear plastic bench seating in the trunc area.... my speaker box for three fifteen inch woofers is vertical in the back and the support beam that spans across the car from wheel well to wheel well is where it butts up against. This leaves a good amount of space to install capacitors, extra battery like mine, plus the aplifiers!! If you can rethink your build I would definately recommned behind the rear seating, it also allows for important bass adjustments and easy access, if you are a basshead like myself you will definitely be tuning your BASS more than once. This is just my opinion though and how I installed my three amplifiers and extra battery, seems so easy to mess with back there and no uncomfortable floor stretching and flashlights to get under the seat ;)

The only way I will mount it on back of rear seats instead of under seat is if I get my windows tinted which I am debating. I just don't want it out in the open for anyone to see and steal it
