Hi everyone,
Does this sound in the ball park for a quote for front wheel bearings and struts? I think he was charging 45/hour.

The labour for front wheel bearings is $100/side
The labour for front struts is $150 both sides
$60/ bearing, $150/strut

Can you give me n idea how may hours this would take a mechanic?

That is not out of the ordinary. I think $45/hour looks like a low charge. We pay around $100 in our neck of the woods.

What brand struts are you going to get? Cheap ones will haunt you. Will he replace the strut mounts too?
Did he explain to you that you need to have the wheels aligned after the struts have been replaced?

I'm not sure what brand they sell I will look into it, at $150 per strut would they come with the mounts and other parts I would need? He's a private guy who works out of his own garage so thats why he charges less. He never mentioned about alignment but I did read about it, would have to get it done somewhere else I think. Thanks for you time.

P.S I found these on ebay $88 for 2 ( I assume theses are the cheep ones and dont come with all the parts?)

Yes, this ebay find is struts only, no strut mounts, no rubber stops, no dust cover.
Make sure he uses good quality stuff like Monroe OESprectrum or KYB.

I suspect he cannot do a wheel alignment in his garage. Ask him who he recommends for that part of the job.

Yeah, if you don't go with Monroe or KYB, or one of the performance brand ones (considerably more expensive), you will pay for it quickly. Like many auto components, it pays to buy quality.
