Splicing into 9003 headlight low beam wire

Hey guys need help splicing into the low beam headlight wire. My vibe is going through a lighting revolution. I'm installing 2 new pairs of lights; I am trying to wire one to the low beam and the other to the high. Both lights are relayed, and work when the power source to the switch comes from the battery, but not when the source is from the headlight. I assume I am using the wrong wire.
Vibe 9003 headlight bulbs have 3 wires and 3 prongs.
Apologies my vibe has been resprayed so everything looks Neptune Blue.
Which is which? the right/left have white stripes and the top has a black.
tried using my cheapo light-bulb power tester, but it got fried when I attached it.
Or am I trying to splice into the wrong thing all-together?
Any help will be appreciated.

Here is a pic of the wiring from haynes.
And the diagram I was using.
I have tried splicing into the left ( driver) side on the outward red/white and the red/black.

Well i abandoned the whole splice thing. I am just running each pair on separate switches to the battery.
These are the new accent lights i got. Looks cool with the parking lights.
Then with my new Phillips and HID fogs.
And if im feeling like a Christmas tree.
Yup 8 forward lights.

I would wire it to its own switch or at least to the headlight relay instead. Take the headlight relay trip wire and split it two ways. One going back to the headlight relay and one going to your new relay.

Right now they are on their own switches. Just dont want to accidentally leave em on.
But to wire into headlight relay...
So looking at the diagram that would be the red/black wire before the fuses but after the switch?

Underneath the headlight relay, according to your diagram, it is the red/yellow wire that is the trip wire. It supplies ground to the headlight relay from the headlight switch.
To make things easier on you, all you really have to do is take the grounded wire from your relay as you have it now and attach it to the red/yellow wire from the headlight relay. That way they would still have a switch but they will always go off with the headlights regardless of switch position.
