Windshields....is yours broken?

Never gave the windshield in my Vibe much thought. Still the original glass after 190K miles, has two chips that were fixed, no cracks, most of it feels as smooth as 180 grit sandpaper though.....
Reason this came up is because of the '14 Kia Soul my Wife bought. Five months and about 8K miles since buying it new, we may have to replace the windshield because it has taken on so many chips. My Wife and I feel its more due to cheap glass than angles and such as to why its been so vulnerable.
To say my Wife is a bit upset would be an understatement.
She drives the same route in the Soul that she did in Vibe everyday to/from work.
How's your glass holding up?

2006 167,000 miles and original. Pitted to heck though.
We went through 3 windshields in 2 years on our previous '04 though.

The previous owner had the windshield replaced. I got one rock chip and had it repaired just a few weeks into my ownership.

Original 12 year old glass, 101,000 miles. Pitted badly and scratched from the wiper blades... Contemplating one of those glass polishing kits to try to buff that out as it's very difficult to see out of at night when headlights/street lights hit it.
I had a rock take out my windshield on the '03 I owned years ago, got a new one through insurance that was a bit nicer than OEM since it had the tinted band at the top.

Mine is spotless (only 18k on it and garaged all the time) BUT Juniors has several scratches and two rock chips (both fixed by a professional glass shop) and wouldn't you know it ... they're right in the line of sight of the drivers view looking forward

Some days it can aggravate you while driving but you just have to live with it until the windshield completely cracks.

My 2003 Vibe had its windshield replaced 3 different times in the 7 years I owned it. I guess you guys are lucky. So far, knock on wood no issues with the Matrix

My '07 had a crack on the lower left side, out of line of driving sight, and a couple of chips near the top that felt cracked to the touch, and knew they would be splitting soon. Also, the previous owner let the wiper blade on the passenger side go smooth out so there was a half moon streak of etching. I have since replaced and it's good to go!

Spouse (owns an auto glass shop) thinks the newer ones are more $$. Also depends on who made the glass. Some mfg's are cheaper than other (and it shows).
