How do you remove the housing around shifter?

Hi all,

Would anybody be able to help me on how to remove the black housing below the shifter? I have been looking for hours on here and haven't been able to find the solution. I took out the drawer thing and removed two screws from under the shifter bezel but it seems to be held on by some clips that I can't seem to locate or undo. I tried pulling pretty hard but I didn't want to break anything. Anybody know how? 2004 base model if that matters. Thanks!

Been 11 years since I took one out.

viewtopic.php?t=4692" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has some directions, but ragingfish's pictures have gone missing, so some of it isn't as clear as it used to be.

Are you trying to take out the large plastic floor to shifter surround thing that the storage bin fits into, or something else?

One thing that trips people up is a hidden screw under the blower speed dial. You need to pull the knobs off, remove that screw and then you can carefully pull/pry the bezel off.

Awesome! I knew ragingfish had to have one on how to do it but I couldn't find it, not knowing that the area I was talking about is considered the front console. It's a shame that all his pictures got lost, but the descriptions are good enough to cover it. Thanks for the link!

Vibrologist, I meant the black shrouding below the shifter, not the bezel, but thanks for the tip anyway :) sorry it was kind of difficult to name.
