I just bought my Vibe 2008 back.
Now I have problems starting the car.
The immobilizer?
I remembered getting out of the car, locking and unlocking the doors, and then it would start. Now I have tog et in and out several times. So far, I got it running, but I am beginning to wonder if this really is the immobilizer, or just a coincidence after getting out of the car 4 times .. etc.
The dashboard lights up. But the engine does not start, not a sound, not a beginning, just completely dead.
Anyone recognizes this?

Is this the same manual transmission VIbe you sold last summer?

Just guessing, but perhaps its a problem with the "clutch to start" switch. There is a switch on the firewall, inside the car that the clutch pedal is supposed to hit when the pedal is all the way down, and the the switch has to be closed before the starter will engage. On my manual transmission Vibe, it got to where I had to really mash the clutch pedal into the floor to get it to start. It's not really adjustable, so I just taped a couple of coins on the back of the clutch pedal where it contacts the switch, made starting a lot easier

This wouldn't explain why getting in and out of the car several times would cause it to finally start up, unless as a side effect of getting in and out of the car in increasing frustration and anger at not being able to start the car, you finally step on the clutch hard enough.

So maybe try really mashing the clutch pedal to the floor, see if that makes it start more reliably, without all the getting in and out.

I don't have high confidence that's what the problem is, but it's all I can think of, and its a free thing to try

You may want to make sure the battery terminals are tight and clean, and that the battery has sufficient charge as well.

I know I am going to be killed for this , but maybe it is a Diet Vibe ???
