03 Dash airbag light stays on after recall work

Last week I brought my 03 Base to a Chevrolet dealer in Liberty, MO to have the SRS recall work performed. Now the dash light is on all the time. I'm assuming it only comes on when there is a problem? I was not too impressed with their service, if I have to go back it will be a mega bummer.
Thanks!
Scott

Why would you go to a Chevrolet dealer? There aren't any Buick/GMC dealers in your area? The dealer you did go to, probably did shoddy work, since they felt you had no intention in buying a new car from them, and that Pontiac and Vibe are gone, so in essence they could care less.

I agree, I think they could care less. But, they are supposed to be qualified to take care of it and they are the closest to me. So, the light is only supposed to be on if there is a problem...right?

That is correct. The airbag system is turned off when the light is on. If the light was not on before they touched it, then they screwed something up. Hopefully they won't try and say it is something else and try to avoid repairing it.

Good luck on it!

I don't think it makes much of a difference in which GM division did the repair. Buick/GMC dealers have also screwed this up - we have several members here who have reported their SRS light on after installation of the noise filter. I need to look around and see if Toyota dealers are botching this repair as well, I suspect they probably are. I can only speculate what they're doing to alter the wiring harness for this repair is introducing potential points of failure.

Not sure if we ever learned what codes(s) are being set or what was the actual fault -- Scotman, if you find out, let us know!

I plan on taking videos of several ignition on cycles to prove to the dealer that the SRS light goes out and all is normal with the self diagnostic before I have this recall done. Should the need arise...

I got the car back from the Chevy dealer. Let me remind you that I had no light on before the recall. 3 days after they did the SRS recall service my airbag light came on and stayed on. I brought it back to the dealer and after they looked at it, I was told that the drivers side airbag module #88969204 went bad AFTER they did their repair. The repair work estimate is $1183.31 plus tax. I find it odd that this part was fine all these years and only went bad after they did their repair. They claim that before the recall fix...neither airbag would deploy if needed, as of now only the passenger bag will deploy, but during the 3 days after I got it back the first time, it would have all worked fine. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Call GM?
Thanks!
