I'm mad at e-mail support. I said to them, you made the plastic cladding, what do you recommend to remove wax from it?They write back with some BS answer "we don't make the products we use, and we can't condone the use of them on our car, nor can we provide support on the use of it..."

quote:They write back with some BS answer "we don't make the products we use, and we can't condone the use of them on our car, nor can we provide support on the use of it..."Maybe BASF makes the plastic ... no, on second thought their slogan is "We don't make the products you buy, we make the products you buy better."I've never attempted to get support from GM via email, but I can tell you that their customer phone line is pathetic. The person who handled my call knew nothing about the operation of anything, and wasn't able to let me talk to somebody who was.

oohhh .... even still, if it's their plastic, they should know (or have the resources to find out) how to take care of their products.I think it is a reasonable assumption that automotive wax *may* end up on a part of the car which was not intended to be waxed. You'd think they might've tested this, just to make sure the stuff doesn't melt off the car. It's not like you sprayed it with sulfuric acid & are asking how to fix the damage.I think they should change the name to "we'd like all your hair to turn grey and fall out, so we refuse to know anything" instead of "technical assistance".

WD-40 on a rag should take the wax off. Just make sure you put the solvent on the rag, not on the car. Pete

Really? Is that all it will take?It won't damage the plastic, will it?

So I wrote them back over a week ago to clarify, telling them "I JUST want to know how to get WAX off the PLASTIC." Well, again, they write back, and say we're not a support center, we can't help.So they start off saying thanks for contacting us about your 2002 Pontiac Vibe. Mistake #1. No such thing as an 02 vibe. Then, the kicker. They follow up later in the letter saying "It is for this reason that we rely heavily on the Service Staff at the Chevrolet dealership to provide our customers with any type of mechanical diagnosis/information." Mistake #2. Chevrolet dealer??????Jeff is gonna hear about THIS one in Ohio...

that plastic is porous(sp) enough that it's hard to get wd-40 to work well.I'll ask the bodyshop manager at work tom(wed) what to use.I even go to the trouble of masking mine off with masking tape when I wax it,I know it's a little much, but it works.I bet you'll have to use some type of small brush to get down in that plastic.I looked at a saab site and one guy said use dawn and warm water, but don't get it on the paint .He says it works b/c dawn removes wax. Then another guy said use peanut butter.....whatever...
