'04 GT Rear Brake Question

Hi, '04 GT, 104K.

I will be replacing the rear brake pads and rotors. They are disc with the emergency brake shoes inside the rotor. The caliper slides appear to be not working correctly, as the pads are not making complete contact with the rotors. I replaced the pads about 7 years ago, and I cannot recall if the slides can be cleaned up to work again, or if the calipers need to be replaced when the slides start seizing. The rotors and calipers are original, and have seen many WI salty winters. So, are the slides integrated into the calipers? I just cannot recall.

Thanks

Rockauto sells several rear slide pin kits so it appears they're servicable.
You may very well need a new caliper though, the piston could be seized.
It would be worth your trouble to try and take off the old caliper before buying parts, could be either one causing the problem.

I just put in rear disc brakes on my base, so I know the setup. It's two bolts to remove it, so take it off and try to move the slides with your fingers. The slides are dead simple, as just a piece of cylindrical metal inside the caliper mounting holes. But if you're going to replace the pads and rotors I'd see if you still have the same problem after servicing them.
