Come one, come all, to the GenVibe meet for 2014 in Pontiac, Illinois!

Location: Pontiac, Illinois
Date: July 19, 2014

Hotel: Best Western in Pontiac - Not official, but that's where most of us will be
Campgrounds: There's one out there for $16/night

Itinerary:
Friday: Arrive, pre-meet stuff. Mostly what people are up for, but likely dinner someplace (like Bernadi IIs).
Saturday: Actual meet, time TBD. We will also be attending a cruise night, along with an Edsel car club. Tour the Pontiac-Oakland car museum, do pictures somewhere, and dinner (probably at Pontiac Family Kitchen)
Sunday: Checkout and head home. Some of us will likely do breakfast at Pontiac Family Kitchen before we roll out.

This is similar to how last year's was. I'm interested in seeing if anyone has anything they'd like to schedule or add. Also, please tell me if you are going so I can start a list of people. As of now I know there's these people:

Once we get closer I may request people's phone numbers, as once we're there the forum is difficult to use via potatophone, and not everyone uses Bookface.

We will also be getting an official logo at some point, and I may do another banner like I did last year.

I may have some children with me, including you favorite of my daughters Nick. Still looking into having them stay with my parents for a few days. we'll see how that goes. If it rains, I'll opt for the hotel room to avoid being soaked, as has happened to me before. I'll choose the super 8 though, as it is $20 cheaper. Yes, I am a cheap azz.

The later date will work better, will have to see what work schedule allows. Who will be at the campgrounds?

An Edsel car club and Vibe meet up. Could see some similarities, both were separate divisions of parent companies based on experimental research.

Hey, this is Corey! Thought you'd like my screen name for the list above! My gf and I will be attending, and tent camping! The campground is the Livingston County 4-h Park Campground. It's $12 a night for a tent site, and $16 a night for a tent site with water and electric!

The lady running the campground wouldn't take a reservation. She said there would be plenty of sites that weekend after I asked several times if I needed to make a reservation.

My mom and I will definitely be there (only bringing one Vibe this year though ). We'll be staying at the Best Western. We plan on arriving mid to late afternoon Friday and leaving Sunday morning.

Will be camping right after the Ag fair 07/14 - 07/18 If like any other campgrounds, after a big event you hope for a splash of rain to calm the dust.

Never heard an Edsel called an Edsled. The Gen Vibes and Edsled's?

I have a room reserved at the Best Western for my mom and I. We will be arriving late afternoon on the 18th (5-6ish). We are planning on getting dinner at Senor Tequila's across from the Best Western (assuming it's still there), then hanging out in the pool, etc. We will be staying over Friday and Saturday nights and will be leaving Sunday morning. We will be bringing my Vibe and my Vibe will be sporting a new, big surprise which I will not unveil until we arrive in Pontiac. I look forward to seeing everyone in a couple weeks. Everyone have a safe trip.

I've made my own reservation at the hotel and am very excited to get there now! Who all is coming so I can get a better idea for attendance?

I'll be staying in Dwight on Friday night, and Pontiac Saturday night. We were going to camp, but alas, young Olivia is still a camp wanderer in search of a potty when needed. Therefore, we will be roughing it in the motel.

It is with great sadness that I make this post...

my mom and I will not be coming to Pontiac afterall . The past few days I have been experiencing some health issues and we decided it's better for us to stay close to home this weekend. We'll be thinking about you guys and we'll be looking forward to lots of pictures. Sounds like the weather's going to be decent down there the whole weekend.

Oh, and for anyone that was wondering what the "surprise" was that I was going to "unveil" on my Vibe in Pontiac, I will just go ahead and post it here... last week I had a Magnaflow catback exhaust installed on my Vibe ! It sounds soooo good! Ever so slightly louder than stock and it's all nice and tucked up and hidden under the rear bumper cover and the underbody so it's very stealthy which is exactly what I wanted. I couldn't be happier with it and of course, my mom's Vibe will be getting one shortly ! I will post some pictures within the next couple days.

Uh oh, Carrie! Feel better. If you end up better by the weekend there's a place for you! But I'm getting really excited for this. The Best Western in town is booked out, so hopefully there will be a few Vibes there Friday night.....

Sorry to hear this Carrie, hope you can make maybe just a Saturday outing if you feel better. I had to stay in Dwight due to lack of rooms in Pontiac. It's more exciting to know that the town will be bustling with activity.

Have to change from maybe, to won't be able to attend this year. Will keep an eye on one of the mini meets in the area. Change in work plans.

GenVibe meet 2014 schedule - July 19th

Be in the parking lot in front of the courthouse before 11 AM. Meet there earlier than 11 so we can do breakfast and meet a bit before things get moving.

At 11AM we will be moved in front of the Pontiac-Oakland Auto Museum, where we will stay for the cruise night.

Cruise night starts at 3PM - we need to be there by then or roads will get closed up and you won't be able to join us.

Dinner wherever.

Saw the pictures on Facebook, looks like their was great weather for the event. Glad to see the Pontiac Oakland Museum was able to borrow more exhibit cars.
