Half Dome - I hiked it

This has nothing to do with our cars...We started late (8am) and ended late (around 9:30pm) The sunset at around 8:30pm, so we did the last mile plus in the dark.I must say, that this "adventure" has got to be the most tired, most painful, and most scary experience of my life.Marching for nearly 13 hours straight up/then down 4000 feet, over about 16.4 miles - the last 1000 feet or so was done on a 45-60 degree slope on gravel covered "steps" or cables. Oh yeah, and the air was pretty thin, so my lungs were really pumping up there.Every muscle in my body hurts (even my face??). My feet hurt, my lungs hurt (thin air will do that).Pictures do not give Yosemite any justice. Enjoy the photos, as my body heals. Album 1 Album 2quote:Half Dome is Yosemite Valley's most distinctive and dramatic landmark. It towers 4,400+ feet over the valley below, topping out at 8,842 feet above sea level. Sunrise to sunset, the lighting is always dramatic on this massive and sheer granite face.

Quite the adventure! Beautiful pics. The wife and I were out to Yosemite back in 87. I remember we drove up to Glacier Point (?) which had a great view of Half Dome. Very beautiful place.

I have been to Glacier Point. Its got an awesome Vista Point of the Valley including Half Dome. From anywhere, Half Dome looks so huge and far away. I still can't believe I got to the peak on foot.

I hiked the "hundred mile wilderness" part of the appalacian trail... it's the northern most part of the trail in Maine... what an experience that was, and a painful one at that toobut it is a good time though!

My girlfriend got back from California 2 weeks ago and if she woulda drove home instead of flying she woulda been able to climb Half Dome. She went on a 2 week class trip.. Went from Sacremento, CA to Washington. Climbed Mt. Shasta, Mt. St Helens, went to crater lake.. She said mt. st helens was so hard. like last 30% to the top you climb through ash and pumice. and it's practically straight up.. there is no going back and forth all the way up.
