Hi, new memeber from Iowa

Hi there!
This is to introduce myself to the GenVibe community.
I am almost 60 years old and our boys have their own set of wheels. I kept driving around with an '03 Ford Windstar, mostly alone and short distances. This was because the boys are out of high school and the related extracurricular activities. Obviously, the Windstar was too large for the changed transportation needs. I was actually looking for a more luxurious ride but there was one requirement that was difficult to meet: we have an English Springer who also gets to ride along to the park for a work out. The station wagons were either too old (Ford Taurus) or to iffy (Volvo, Saab, VW, Audi, Subaru) or not available (Mazda6). The final alternative was a Ford Focus ZXW or a Pontiac Vibe. Fortunately an '05 Pontiac Vibe with 890000 miles appeared on CL and only 1 mile from my house. I own it now since 2 weeks exactly.
I am enjoying it a lot. I have already added a pet barrier, put on new tires (Michelin Defender) and got 30 mpg on the first tank.
I am planning to fix the dim radio display, find one center cap and add a lumbar adjustment to the seats. I might do some sound deadening as well, but the new tires made a huge difference, maybe I don't need anything else.

Thanks for the Welcome. That was quick!
Indeed, so far I have no regrets. I already researched the "how to " index and found lots of pointers regarding the radio display and taking the seat covers off in order to add lumbar support. I intend to write up my mods and post them here.
You live not to far from Mid-Ohio, I noticed.

Welcome! Your Vibe does look good, and like Tim said, it is a nice color too!

Welcome to GenVibe! Glad you're happy with it. I'm from not-too-far-away Minnesota! My grandparents live in Iowa, though, so I at least know the route down to their area (Oelwein area, if you know where that is). Centercaps should be easy to find online or in junkyards, though the Vibe really is lacking in sound deadening.

Hi KITT222: We will go to see the Twins this summer. My wife is a baseball fan, I myself should go to Brainerd.
Oelwein is in the nicer parts of Iowa.
Centercap: I was looking for an excuse to go the junk yard. Self serve junk yards are great entertainment for me.

Welcome to GenVibe! That's a sharp looking Salsa Vibe you've got there! And that's low mileage for the year. A great pickup for sure

!
Being in Iowa, you wouldn't have too far of a drive to come to the GenVibe meet in Pontiac, IL the weekend of July 4th. Click the link in my signature below for more details.

I couldn't agree more! I haven't been to a junkyard in years. I used to go all the time when I had my Sunfires, but the last time I was there they had no Vibes whatsoever, so I really don't have an excuse to go anymore

Haha, yes, in my Cavalier and Sunfire days my dad and I were always getting stuff at the junk yard to fix them up. Just not enough 09 and 10s in them right now. And really not much I'm looking for.
I sure miss it!

Sorry, I can't do the GenVibe meet. Wifey and I will go the twin cities that weekend. I will certainly follow the proceedings on the forum. Wishing you all the best of weather and great success!
I just went to the Wrench N Go junk yard today. No Vibes, no center caps of any Pontiac. There were several Sunfire and Cavalier and lots of Grand Am. I picked up some odds and ends for my wife's 2000 Contour.
I think I'll get the center cap and fog light through E-bay.
