Topping off coolant in 2009 Vibe GT?

Both our Vibes are about 5.5 years old now (both are just under 50,000 miles) and they both have the original coolant which has never been topped off or anything. I've noticed that they're both getting pretty low. They are both actually just above the "low" lines when the engines are cold. I picked up a jug of Toyota pink coolant last summer at the local dealer. I was just wondering if it will be fine to just top them off with it and if so, should I top them off all the way to the "full" line or halfway between the two lines, etc.? The manual doesn't really give any useful details (go figure ), so I figured I'd post here and get some input from my fellow GenVibers :). Thanks in advance!

Engine cold and level just above the low line is where I've always kept it. The manual for our year says at or just above low when cold and at or just above full when hot.

Provided you have Toyota pink in there already, just dump the stuff you bought in there (and it is already pre-diluted so you don't have to mess with any of that.) But it doesn't sound like either car really needs much (assuming the process for checking the level is similar to the first gen.)

I too keep a jug of the SLLC from Toyota for topping off. I had to add it after GM did the timing gear actuator change in my car for free, and my overflow tank was dead empty as a result. Fortunately, the mechanic was smart enough NOT to add anything into the jug and ruin my engine. I was more than happy to go to the Toyota dealer and do it myself. I now have TOYOTA SLLC ONLY written in big black letters atop my overflow jug just in case some grease monkey gets any dumb ideas.

Just above the low line when cold is where it should be. No need to top it off.

Are you sure your car currently has the pink Toyota stuff currently?

Thanks for the info guys. I have a jug of the Toyota pink coolant, so I will just hang onto it in case the levels drop below the cold line eventually.

Yes. It's definitely pink coolant in both our Vibes.
