Lucky Dogs

I have noticed in a lot of post here everyone says go to the junk yard to get this or that. Maybe it is because we do not have the bad winters, ice and stuff, but wrecked Vibes are hard to find, in central Arkansas I have never found a Vibe in the junk yard. Need the fender gourmet for the hood rod, any undamaged console lids, roof cross bars from an 03 or 04, fog lights and anything else as a spare part. Well their are not any here, you lucky dogs. I have never seen a Vibe here within 100 miles in a junk yard when I do an internet search. By the way that is one of the reasons I bought three of them as they are not in the junk yards, tells me something as far a reliability and value. Seen plenty with salvage titles for sale over the last three years but that just tells me they are so good they rebuilt them instead of scrapping them out.

Something similar happens in my area, as there are rarely any Vibes in junkyards. Lots of salvage titles (my own included) but none in junkyards. I've only seen one, and pulled a few things from it (which I sold a little while ago). I DO have a spare set of crossbars, but I'm not sure who would want them or how much I could sell them for.

Fender grommet - probably cheap enough new from Toyota
Console lid - all Matrices from 03-08 had the raised lid. And try the Scion TC lid, too, as I've heard that one will work, too.
Fog lights - they generally aren't unbroken in junk yards

Just got a prop rod grommet from Toyota - $1.50. Easy peasy.

I live in west TX...we have 4 1st gen Vibe, 1 2nd gen Vibe, and 1 1st gen Matrix XRS. In the middle of a sea of trucks, SUVs, and also a Viper body.

FYI on the prop rod "grommet" - it is a totally different part now. Gone is the easy-to-wear-out rubber grommet, in with the new hard plastic part. Much improved over the stock design, and snapped right into place.

Thanks Some Yahoo, going to hit up the Toyota dealer parts department as soon as possible.
