Quieten the interior?

I have read several threads on what people have done, but have found no quantitative or qualitative results as to how effective it is to shush highway noise. What have you done, was it noticeable, and would you do it again the same or different?

I'm about to replace my carpet so I have a case of the while-I'm-ins...

Is this just a dead forum or does everyone just deal with road noise?

Nope .. not a dead forum. There were a few members here who attempted to quiet down their Vibes and even created a post here somewhere. Your other comment is likely very truthful as most of us just accept the fact that they are not the quietest cars to ride in. Personally, if I were to someday "quietize" my Vibe, I would go all out starting with the floor, then door panels, then front & rear wheel wells, finally quieter tires. The first & easiest would be some carpet underlayment/insulation seeing how you already have plans to open up your interior.

Somewhere on here I posted (w/pics) what I did to reduce the noise.
I didn't measure before/after db's but there was a definite difference to the good.
No regrets.

You might look into different tires as well. If you have wind noise, check and make sure your seals and window runs are all good too.

Added several sound deadening items to Vibe, had mixed results. Did pretty much the whole rear, reduced tire and road noise. Added deadening to doors,

With the stereo at a modest level, can hear it outside of the car, same for sound coming in from outside, sort of like the saying paper thin walls. I should have added more deadening to the doors. On one side the products I added definitely made a difference in decreasing distortion and increasing audio clarity, the other side I need to do more to reduce road noise. Someday, if I take the interior out, will add more sound deadening to the floor, and possibly add some more items to the doors. Only concerns were thickness of products and not interfering with mechanical items, or causing the interior parts to bulge.

Found the link to what I did.

Didn't realize I did this over 3 years ago.

Still no regrets.
