The best birthday gift ever...

for a Vibe enthusiast like me anyway

!
My aunt got me the Helm 2009 Vibe 3 volume service manual set for my birthday!
There's only one problem though... the first volume is for a 2009 G8

! It says Vibe on the cover, but the very first page says it's for a 2009 G8 and all the subsequent photos and information are indeed for a 2009 G8. Looks like I'll be giving Helm a call tomorrow

!

That's a good one Carrie

Apparently they must have run a batch of G8 manuals right along side the Vibe and when it came time to bind them, it got the wrong cover. Assuming they issue you the correct volume, if they DON"T ask for the G8 one back, you do know someone who could put it to good use (hint ... hint ... hint ...)

I thought maybe it was a sign that I should find a body shop willing to graft some G8 hood scoops onto my Vibe hood to make it look a little meaner

My mom asked me if there was any money hiding in any of the books

!
I am going to give them a call in a little bit and see what they have to say. I already thought about you and Sue if they don't want the manual back

! It's the first volume with info about removing exterior and interior panels, etc. so I'm sure it would definitely come in handy for you guys!
I'll post an update later after I call Helm...

Called Helm a few hours ago. Got right through, spoke to one woman who then transferred me to another woman who was able to get everything worked out for me. They are sending someone (UPS, FedEx, etc.) to my house tomorrow to pick up the manuals (sorry Tim!) and they were going to ship a new set out to me right away. Here's hoping the new ones will all be correct this time

!

So, FedEx came and picked up the first set of manuals on 04.29. The second set of manuals arrived on 04.31. Guess what... same issue

! So, I made another call to Helm immediately. The lady I spoke with said it may be an issue with the entire stock of the 2009 Vibe service manuals, so she was going to contact the warehouse and have them check to see whether it was just a fluke with a few sets or if it was indeed the entire stock. If it was just a fluke with a few sets, she is going to send me another set. If it is the entire stock, I can keep the current manuals (looks like you may be getting a G8 manual afterall Tim!) and they will refund the full amount to my aunt's credit card

. She had said she would more than likely call me back 05.01 and let me know what the deal was, well I have yet to hear back. If I don't hear anything by Monday, I will be calling again

. And it just figures that the incorrect manual is the one I would be using the most

.

Somehow this doesn't surprise me

I wonder how many other customers got the wrong books. Maybe you should order some G8 manuals and ONE of them just might end up being the Vibe volume that you need

Keep us posted on this ridiculous saga ......

Didn't hear anything from Helm all this past week, so I gave them a call yesterday. I couldn't remember the name of the last person I had spoken to, so after waiting a few minutes, the woman I spoke with yesterday said she would send someone to pick the manuals up again and would contact the warehouse to see whether it was the whole batch or just a fluke with a few sets. She ended up calling back a little bit later and said she was going to go ahead and credit the full amount back to my aunt's credit card in case it was the entire stock.
On the plus side, my aunt said she'd just give me cash if I end up not getting the full correct set of manuals. I can certainly deal with that

!
Stay tuned...

Well, the manuals sat on my front porch this entire past week and were never picked up like they were supposed to be. I am waiting to hear from my aunt whether they did indeed credit the full amount back to her credit card. If they did, I am done with Helm. This entire situation is completely ridiculous. For $200.00 I certainly expected to get all three manuals for the correct vehicle. I would not recommend anyone order anything from Helm.

The 09 and 10 helm manuals are different part numbers. I wonder if it would be worth trying the 10 set?

So, my mom was home this past Monday and FedEx came by looking for the books that had sat out all last week

. I put them out on the front porch Tuesday morning and FedEx ended up coming by later that same day and picking them up. I haven't heard anything from Helm

.

I didn't even realize they actually had a 2010 manual as well. I'm done dealing with them though. Absolutely terrible customer service. I expected
alot more for something that costs $200.00.

Have never heard anymore from Helm. Very disappointed in their customer service!
Looks like that $200.00 will be going towards Project PowerStop instead!

That's an amazing level of dis-service, even for a soulless corporation!

Oh well, I guess I just wasn't meant to have the manuals.
On the bright side, I guess I was meant to only pay $15.00 for 2 pairs of Techna-Fit braided stainless steel front and rear brake lines for Project PowerStop

I wish the 2009-2010 Vibe GT had a hood like the G8

Be careful what you wish for ....... you know the rest

This is also on my LONG list of future mods. I can only hope that many of you out there will still own your Vibe's to where when I do get these mods done, you can benefit from my work
