My 03GT engine gave up the ghost after 475K...what is a suitable replacement? Where are the best engines? I loved that car but...gotta wonder if it is realistic to put a new engine in it....thanks John

Answer your questions, none, none that would work with your car, and no, time for something else (you got 475K out of it, which is great in and of itself)

475000 miles is awesome out of the 2zz. Did you have any major non-engine related work?
I'm at 196000 on my 2004 GT currently.

Several factors to consider here. What was the final blow to where your original engine finally died? Sounds like you love this car so why not rebuild the engine (or find a speed shop somewhere with crate engines ready to install). Has this Vibe been subjected to nasty corrosive winters to where rust is an issue? If not then I say put a couple thousand back into this Vibe and keep it going for another few hundred thousand miles.

I do have a place to start for you at least, if you're not familiar - Monkey Wrench Racing. They have swap packages with and without transmissions for the 2zz into the Vibe. You might even be able to get some credit towards a new engine if your old block is still usable.
Here's the link to their engines:

Won. I am sure it's bittersweet. You really got your money's worth. Rebuild or drop in another one!

Follow the leaders here, build it and they will come, the swingers that is. A fully built 2zz on boost with a meth addiction and stout transmission would be a sweet piece of ASSembly to own.

Are you interested in getting a rebuilt 2ZZ at all? That may be the way to go, that or a young used one.

Find yourself a good, low mileage 2zz and swap it.
