Recall for Pass Side Airbag

Got the recall notice for my 03 a few months ago. Need to find out if anyone has taken their car in for the passenger side airbag recall?

What was done and how long did it take?
Took my car in today and spent several hours at the dealership. Found out this was the first one they had seen for this problem. They got the number off the airbag and are contacting GM. I was told it may be alright or they may have to replace the airbag...they will let me know. This doesn't agree with the information I had heard about the problem. That's why I want to know if anyone has addressed this problem. Thanks from Texas.

I finally took my 03 GT in last week. I got the passenger side airbag recall and the other airbag recall (where they may deploy randomly and without cause) done at the same time.

It took them all day and they did replace the passenger side airbag. The dealer did call in the afternoon to tell me that they confirmed the airbag needed to be replaced. I thought that was strange, since the recall details make it clear that all included vehicles need the passenger side airbag replaced. I wonder if they are checking to see if it had been previously replaced, which would mean they wouldn't have to do it again?

When I got my vehicle back, it had 8 more miles on the odometer than when I dropped it off, and the driver's seat was leaning way back in the "I'm cruising the strip on Saturday night" position. So I guess I don't think it really takes all day - it's just that they were doing other things with my car much of the time. :x

They probably used it to run an errand and/or get lunch. This saves the dealership money since they're burning your fuel and using your car and not theirs.

They were just doing an "extended road test!" ;) You know, since we've had some reports of owners with the air bag light on after the installation of the filter. They were just making sure everything was good.

I took my '03 in for this back in December. They did have to replace whatever was recalled (two recalls), so it did take a couple hours, but not all day. Luckily, they had the parts in stock (was a former Pontiac dealer).
