Well I got my Vibe back about 2 weeks ago after having a new oil pump and half the engine rebuilt. Had to take it back twice for a check engine light that cant be explained. So Pontiac called me 2day and offer to buy it back or give me a new engine, have to think about it.

Well, sorry to hear about your trouble. Sounds like Pontiac is trying to make it good though, with its offer. If they buy it back, how much more would you need to spend to get a new 2004?

Yeah, at least they're trying to be responsible, but what a hassle. Saw your vibe in the Registry, I like the paint, and you've done a lot of mods to it. Might be better to take the new engine than to have to redo the exhaust, springs, paint, etc

I agree! You put so much work into it now...if I were you, I'd get the new engine...it's practically like buying a new car!!! Plus you'll have no mileage on the engine. Then again, if this whole experience has left you a sour taste and you'd rather not take your chances again, you can sell it back to them...but you may get hurt financially by it...did they tell you what they would give you for it?

See if you can have 'em throw in a supercharger for at least a discount along with the new engine.

With all the mod you've done on your Vibe, I'd take the new engine

If you take the new engine, make sure that you are getting a "factory-quality" NEW engine, not some rebuilt job that will save GM some cash. You could be ending up with someone else's headache if you get a rebuilt one. Then again, you could end up with a factory lemon, too.I haven't checked out your mods, but everyone else seems to think that you wouldn't want to redo them, and you can bet that GM will not pay you for "voiding" their warranty by adding them. So, maybe a new engine is the better choice. HTH!!

I am going with a new engine. Pontiac said they would give me a 100,000 mile warrenty on the engine if I let them replace it. And it will be a brand new engine.

If I let them buy it back I would have owed about $1100.00
