So, I recently passed 200,000 miles on my Vibe At about 201,250 now. For the life of the car, it's been incredibly reliable. Other than routine oil changes/tire rotations, the only work I've had done is a speed shaft sensor replaced, new pads, and that recall regarding the gas pedal potentially getting stuck.

I want to keep this sucker running for as long as possible. Other than the routine maintenance, is there anything else I should look to have done to it (2009 Vibe GT, automatic)? I typically have the dealer do the 27-point inspection thing, and they've never come back saying anything needs done beyond the oil changes/tire rotations. Just wanting to be proactive! Thanks!

I changed the coolant and transmission fluid on mine at 100k and plan to again at 200k. They're advertised as 'lifetime' fluids now, but who knows how long 'lifetime' is to a dealer.. certainly less than 200k+. It's also relatively inexpensive to do, so why not? If you're still on the original plugs that's another cheap and easy maintenance item.

ALL OF US will be watching to see if the odometer on the 2nd gen Vibes actually continue to roll up the miles OR stop @ 299999 like the older ones. Very impressive reliability for you so far. Agreed! Congratulations on the Vibe turning over 200,000 miles! Glad to hear it's been so reliable for you thus far ! I definitely look forward to more mileage updates from you and your Vibe in the future!

That is great to hear. Keep doing what your doing. Basic fluid changes like your diff, transmission, coolant is what I would do.

You must not be a Vibe owner for as much distaste as you spew about the Vibe. It's either that, or you know little about cars in general.

I'm over 200,000 miles and boosted, mileage is not as critical in newer cars as it was up to the mid 80's. Many members on this very site are working up to, or are over 200,000 miles.

My suggestion is, if you don't like the temp of the water, get out of the pool.

Have no issue with the Vibe at all. Usually when a car gets to as many miles, the owner may start to consider something else. Good luck to the OP hope his car continues to serve him well, though he may consider something else when (or if) it reaches 300k miles.

You could always consider an oil catch can. I just installed one on my matrix with 265000 km because i noticed a decent amount of oil in the intake manifold when i changed the gasket.

I have 219,xxx on mine and it runs great. Not much to suggest in the way of maintenance. Keep the alignment straight, oil changes every 7500-10000 and repair anything that breaks sooner than later and the car should last you another 200k.

I drive mainly highway miles, so perhaps that's one reason I've been fortunate. But it seems others are having great reliability with their Vibes. I hate that this and now the Matrix are gone

And why would I get a new car?? I just paid this one off lol I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off, because when I get another car, I'll be back on the payment train, as there's no way I can afford a car outright.

Just keep making the car payments to yourself! By the time the vibe finally gives up the ghost, you'll have a nice nest egg for a new(er) car!

I wish I had that discipline! Ha ha - I do need to get a credit card bill tamed down some, so I'm focusing on that at the moment, but I will definitely start putting some away on the side for the eventuality. I hope it goes another 100k, but I have to face the reality of as much as I drive, it'll probably be sooner vs. later...

Just curious seeing that you also have the 2.4L engine and probably one of the highest mileage 209 Vibe GT's out there. What's your
oil consumption if any? What has been your oil change interval miles?

Get your oil checked at Blackstone every time. Cheap investment. May head off future issues.

As to some not kind thoughts of you "making a change", I understand. Sometimes a person's rear end needs a new seat relationship.

A top mechanic at Toyota told me once years ago that the BOOMIN' of the boom-box-radios cause more un-needed repairs than anything else.

[edited the censored 4-lettered word for rear end. Even my grandma used that word!! Sheeesh]

Didn't see the post, but I haven't experienced any issues related to oil consumption. I get my oil changed approximately every 4-5,000 miles. As far as oil consumption, I can't speak to that as I take the sucker to the dealer for changes and don't really check my oil. I'm sure that sounds bad, but I drive so often that my oil changes are literally 2-3 months inbetween.
