Metallic rattle noise

Hey All,
We have a hollow metallic rattle type of noise when the car is in gear and the brake is on. When we accelerate, the noise goes away. I think this may be a motor mount. Anyone have an idea of what it is?

You may want to check the Heat shield on the exhaust manifold. To check the mounts have someone in the car with it in drive break on and give it some gas and watch the motor. If it moves more than an inch then it's time to check motor mounts.

Well, I checked the heat shield and it is solid. The motor mounts move about an inch and that's all. I'm wondering if the transmission could be making that noise, but it will go away when the engine is in neutral and also when you accelerate to anything over a couple miles an hour. The noise is more like a dense sounding rattle, nothing that a heat shield would make. It's similar to the noise I got once when I had tons of ice around the exhaust pipe when I was driving in deep snow and it was rattling against the body.

the exhaust donut gaskets are an issue... mine does the same but its more a "chirping" sound. Had the one after the manifold replaced... now doing it again... fft.
