Short Shifters on Ebay

I saw this listing on EBay for Short Shifters. The BIN price is $90. I offered $50 and got a counter offer of $76 Free Shipping. The listing says they have 5 in stock and I have made the only offer. Have no idea what it would cost to have this thing installed.

Here is the listing number: 231132743738

DISCLAIMER: I do not know these people and have no monetary interest in this EBay listing. This notification is for informational purposes only.

It looks half decent, much like the TWM short shifter which is no longer available. The only thing worrying is the low price. TWM was around 200 bucks. The install is not a huge deal, you could probably do it yourself.

I think I'll email them to find out if it's a Kung Fu knock off............

Anyone have a short shifter? How does it feel?

It was ended when I looked at it. Interesting because I'm also looking. MWR has some for $160.

It looks just like the MWR shifter. I don't know of this ebay build quality, but the MWR shifter is beyond top quality. Talk about bolt action, the MWR makes the transmission like a ratchet in it's precision. The shifts do require a little more strength, but if you have been driving manual for more than a few years, you don't notice the difference. My old beetle shifts harder.

I emailed them to inquire what brand it was. This is what I got back: SLRPerformance..

Anyone know who these people are? If this thing is decent, I am a moderator on another website and we do "group" purchases all the time. Maybe we could do one for this. I really would like to know if this is a Kung Fu unit..................

I emailed them to ask:
Does this require permanent modification, or could I go back to the stock shifter if required? Do you have installation instruction you can send?
They responded:
can switch back easily....do not have any instructions, but pretty straight forward following your cars manual
thanks
I may have to bite... it would be nice to have a bit quicker shifts. Would have to wait for a nice day to install though - installing in 10° temps wouldn't be fun.

There's a write up on the install either here or MO. It may take a couple of hours.

I did a search and came up blank - if you happen upon the write-up, please send/post the link.

Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't. Those bolts in the photograph look like they're grade 5 at best. And having a shifter fail is just plain shitty.

I'd ignore this and get the MWR short shifter. I'd much rather pay for something that is reputable and of a quality that I'm familiar with. Either that or I could just use my mill to make my own ha ha ha.

Also, here's a write up for the install from the TWM website.

http://www.twmperformance.com/manuals/m ... manual.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

TWM will also price match comparable products. Send them a link to the MWR short shifter if you prefer TWM and you get it for $160 vs. $250.

If you look closely at pictures you will see large pits in the metal, which would infer very low quality steel. I'm not sure it would make it to Kung Fu quality. This would be a very buyer beware!!

In the PICs I thought it was a crappy paint job.

Nope. Just shitty metal. It uses ABS plastic instead of Delrin too! lol. Good luck using that thing in the cold!
