2009 Vibe Recirculate Air Button Illumination

My 2009 Vibe, 71,500 miles, has developed a new problem. When the interior is cold, the recirculate button fails to illuminate when engaged. I can hear / feel that the vent door has moved to another position. After the interior heat is on for a few minutes, the light seems to work consistently.
Obviously, there is a loose connection within the light circuit of the switch. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone had this switch out and know if the light bulb (or LED) circuit is accessible without destroying the switch?
Thanks! Doc Doug

Doug. I'm pretty sure I have some "up close" pics of this button torn apart. Back when my son wanted to change the color of the illuminating bulb he removed it only to find out that it was an incandescent lamp and NOT an LED, so he put it back together and never changed it. Give me some time to look up the pics and post them here .......................... Tim

Doug. Here you go. Hope these pics help make some sense out of what you're experiencing! There are more pics at my DRIIIVE.com webpage .....

Had to leave my current cardomain.com webpage as they've made some drastic changes to their website and several members can no longer edit, add, or modify
existing content .... including myself. DRIIIVE.com was recommended by several former cardomain members.
Let me know if any of this helps. FYI, if you tear this apart make sure it goes back together EXACTLY the same way you took it apart. The gears only fit in one way
as my son found out. Good luck

The bulbs are not expensive if you know were to look. Do not go to the dealer. You are not going to find a listing for the vehicle at a parts store for these bulbs so you have to match them up. The 14 volt bulbs work just fine and for the price I would just replace them all while you have it apart. Check the below links and click on the "data sheet" to get the dimensions for the bulb to see if it will fit and match what you have. If that is not the right size then click the "Mouser catalog page" to find other bulbs to check the size for.

Last summer I just replace all of the bulbs in our villager van climate control. Ford does not sell the bulbs and wanted $375.00 for a new controller. I matched these up and they work like new. The Villager van took the #560-CNW123 and I bought 10 of them at $0.59 each for a total of $5.90 plus shipping. I also bought LED lamps but 2 of the bulbs locations in the controller were not deep enough for the LEDs to fit.
If you are looking to change the color then you could try some LED lamps. Look toward the bottom of this page to match the holder. Watch the length, because LED bulbs seem to be longer and may not fit. Also watch the beam angle on LED's because the light may not defuse like a regular bulb will.
