Saw a commercial, buy a New Beetle, get an IPod...and apparantly That's brilliance. And they give you everything you need with it -- custom holder for it, audio interface, and AC adapter...I'd love to see them do something similar with the Vibe!

I find it to be a strange pairing.. Beetle and an Ipod?OH well the kit from what I understand is a cassette adapter...Oh well none the less I LOVE the Ipod and I use Irock FM transmitter with my Vibe.. It gives a so/so sound but whenever I decide to upgrade my car stereo I will make sure it has a line in jack

I mean, nothing is more aggrevating than getting an IPod and not being able to plug it into the car!!!It is a strange pairing, but think about it. The big thing now is music. Taking it wherever you want. CD's are big -- MP3's are bigger. The beetle is a popular car for adolescents, yuppies, and the "younger" generation. I think that's just amazing they could think of such a stellar combo.I hear there's a kinda trunk-mounted hard drive system out there that can store like 40 hours of music or something...maybe GM can work with that company to create a system that hides in one of the hatch-area side panels...and is removeable, can be plugged in with USB or FireWire to a PC, and download music to it!Just a thought...

I don't think that will ever happen since GM owns part of XM Radio and Kenwood has an exclusive deal with Sirius. Also, the 10-gig version costs around $500 normally. Can you imagine the dealer price for that option?

Nah, it wasn't Kenwood. I mean, I'm sure they make one, but that wasn't the one I was thinking of. Can't remember now...

I don't know of any others currently. Let me know if you remember who it was, I want something like that but I'm not really fond of Kenwood.

The only other product similar to Kenwood's Music Keg system is by a company called SSI America. It is called the Neo Car Jukebox. The 20GB version is around $350, and the 80GB version is around $500, I believe. It has a removeable HDD, wireless remote, etc. Method of file transfer is USB 2.0, which is slightly faster than firewire. It can be hardwired or FM modulated. Here is the link:

I don't know what's so bad about Kenwood gear. My 82 is pretty sweet. Sounds pretty good to me (good enough for my needs, at least), the Sirius tuner works well, and it all just works together.

It's not that there is anything wrong with them. It's all about personal preference. My opinions were formed years ago. They were a top name in the 80's when I was first getting into car audio. I just didn't care for them then because I didn't like their backlighting (not enough contrast to see clearly). I also didn't like the dot-matrix look of Pioneer receivers back then. I preferred Alpine then and still do today.

Yes, the green lighting on Alpine HU's does clash with the red dash lighting on the Vibe. They do have some that are blue/white, but those might not match either. I'm not sure if I even want to replace the HU right now. I'll probably wait until next summer to make a decision. Rockford Fosgate makes a nice HU with a graphite face and selectable red or blue display that I like...I'll stop now before anyone gets bored, falls asleep, and hits their head on the keyboard.
