i was vaccuming out my vib on friday when i noticed on the left side (drivers) from the rear seat back. these little black dots(?) in my liner right above the glass. they are ballpoint pen tip sized and feel like they are coming from the inside out....i tried to remove one thinking it was something my daughter sprayed up there but they are like rocks and unmovable...it reminds me of little black rock chips glued to the liner...any ideas or has anyone noticed this on theirs?....

Got me! Never heard of that. Never had that problem.Could they be poppy seeds that just got stuck up there and dried or something? I eat poppy bagels a lot....the seeds stick to everything.

not seeds, quit puffing 10 yrs ago, but they do look like some sort of a puncture or burn...definately not made my me or mine...could it be glue eating its way thru from the roof where the liner attaches?

Prety sure there is no glue holding the liner in place. From my understanding, it's held in with clips or screws. Someone on here did a post about removing it...didn't say anything about glue...

Hi its my first post, I did have this same problem right by my sunroof upon delivery. The dealer said they would replace the headliner. I wound up having our used car reconditioning guy touch it up for me. I felt the risk of rattles from disassembling the headliner and sunroof was too great and since I work for the dealer I knew they would ultimately warranty it for me if i wasnt satisfied with the results. My theory is that somehow on the assembly line the headliner got hit with some welding "slag". Mine appear to be pinholes and have a rusty appearance deep into them/

no offense, but you should post that stuff in either wheels or exterior threads.

quote:no offense, but you should post that stuff in either wheels or exterior threads. Yeah, got a little off topic...Anyways on to important stuff like headliner issues...Most dealers have a used car reconditioning firm that deals with just interior blemishes like cigarrette burns and stuff. I watched our guy do my headliner. He takes this household glue and puts it in the hole. My holes were really small so he put it in a syringe type tool. Then he takes a fat round artist brush and dabs these fibers into the glue. He has a wide assortment of these fibers so he can mix and match color. I asked him what the fibers were and he told me it was actual fabric that had been ground down into this form. Anyway...visually you cant tell the repair unless I pointed it out to you, but, if you ran your finger along the repaired area, you can feel slight bumps. If you are interested in this type of repair, get with your local dealer's used car manager and ask him when his interior recon guy comes in and maybe you can even get his number and talk to him direct. Most of these guys are mobile and might even come to your place of work or home. Maybe I'll borrow my buddies digital camera and put up a picture of the repair in the future, or maybe I'll just go out and buy one, lol

Can those interior recon guys deal with stains on seats?

I would imagine that they could. I mean theres always gonna be the stain thats next to impossible to get out, but, I've seen these guys do some pretty amazing things to some trade-ins we take in.

Hmm...I'll have to look into that. Would pay lots of money to get rid of that oil stain on my back seat...

I'm not sure about the Vibe because I have not had a reason to take my headliner down, but typically headliners are held up to the sheet metal by coat hooks, sun visors, grab handles, and a few random magnets and/or velcro. Pretty easy to get down but really hard to get up without a second set of hands.
