Just bought my second Vibe

Post by mbturner »

Hi everyone,

Well, I guess it's time I join this group. I bought my second Vibe today. I bought a 2007 Vibe four years ago with about 50,000 miles on it. I did all my research and I knew that it was the car I wanted. Now that it has 155,000 miles on it, my husband and I decided it was time to buy another car. (We have had absolutely no problems with the car at all, we were just ready for something with less miles.) So, I looked at the Scion xD, but there was not enough cargo space. I test drove the Honda Fit, but it felt too small. I considered larger SUVs, but their gas mileage was too poor for me to stomach. I quickly came to the conclusion that nothing had changed in the car market (as far as my needs were concerned) in the last four years. So, I set out to find my next Vibe. I bought a 2009 2.4L automatic with 55,000 miles on it. I'm thrilled that my new Vibe has a sunroof and a fold-down passenger seat like my old one did and we gained 4 cup holders!

Michelle

P.S. - My favorite thing about Vibes - my kayak fits inside of it. : )

Welcome to GenVibe Michelle! You have joined an ever growing group of GenVibe members that have 2 or more Vibes in their family (myself included; see my signature below). Give us some more info on both your Vibes, i.e. color, transmission, etc. Better yet... post some pictures when you get a chance ;). We love pictures around here :D!

Sad commentary on the state of evolution of the American automotive industry! As the car companies' "cash cows" Americans are forced to choose from noisy, inefficient, and crude compact vehicles so as not to disrupt their lucrative suv/luxury model sales. Hopefully, the struggling Mazda is forced to break the monopoly by putting their advanced clean diesel in the competent mazda3. We shouldn't hold our breath!

Congratulations and welcome. Out of curiosity. why did you look at the XD when the XB is roomier and not that much more expensive, if at all, compared to the XD. Maybe the center mounted gauges were a deal breaker?

Namsfell,

I actually looked at both the xb and xd. I liked the xb better, but I don't think they offer the foward-folding passenger seat. I need this feature for transporting my kayak.
