Removing the Spoilers

Hello all - first post here. I'm searching for a Vibe GT in my area, and the most recent one that I have an interest in has the deck spoilers on it which I don't particularly care for. Has anyone ever removed these? If so, how difficult was it and how much did it cost to have the holes filled in/painted?

Also, about how much would a set of Abyss spoilers go for either here or on eBay? Enough to cover a shop filling in the holes and blending the paint?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give, and thanks for all the wonderful information on this site!

I can't tell you how much it is to fill the holes, but most good shops charge $400-500 to repaint and blend a full panel. It may be more, as that estimate is for a hood; the rear hatch has more things bolted to it.

I'd suggest one of two things: just fill the hatch after removing the midgate spoiler, and find a top piece from a junkyard or somewhere. Paint it black, vinyl wrap it, or plasti-dip it if it comes off a non-abyss car. Or, it could be worth it to try and swap the entire hatch from another Vibe. Someone who wants spoilers wont have to drill any holes in their car. Downside: heavy, the clip for hatch power is under the headliner, and the VIN wont match anymore, which possible could hurt resale if someone is savvy enough to figure that out, and assumes the vehicle has been in a collision.

But hey, maybe try driving with the spoilers. They could grow on you. The top-deck one grew on me, and I put it on my Vibe to help round out the rear end.
