our 2003 vibe was severly damaged in a wreck.
SO =-recently bought this 2005 base vibe.71,000 miles., automatic tranny.
(possible flood car. just found debris in the wrong places).

idles cold in the morning about 1500 rpm,s.

later in day ,warm about 750, but very rough with steeing wheel shaking.

i searched this forum.
possible vacuum leaks.
possible intake manifold gasket.
possible dirty maf or iac.

i have an honest mechanic that works on the car at my house.

any suggestions will be appreciated.

Other than the suggestions you found and have posted, I can only think of cleaning the throttle body and the gasket that is between that and the intake manifold, possibly clean the intake manifold out itself if you plan on checking IM gasket. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chime in with more. Good luck!

You may consider having Autozone or AdvancedAuto pull the codes (for free). I've heard of cars throwing codes without turning the CEL on, although I personally have never seen it happen.

Out of curiosity, did the car ever have the PCM recall done? Whenever I think of the CEL, I think of the PCM because that was the first time I'd ever seen that light before.

waht years were affected and is that recall still in progress?

If its improving on its own, then I'd say its the PCM relearning. When I've had the battery disconnected on my wife's Corolla, it always idles rough at first and it doesn't start feeling normal again for a few days. Although, it wasn't as noticeable most recently when I gave it new spark plugs and had to replace the valve cover gasket.
