Insurance doesn’t cover lowered cars.

My girlfriend was going over the fine print on our insurance statement and on the very last page it says “we will not cover the following vehicles.” Which included any car that’s raised or lowered, traction devices, aftermarket products to help vehicle go faster and/or race. Etc, etc…..Now I have progressive insurance, has anyone else come across this in their insurance policies. I'm a little worried in thinking all the money I'm throwing at them for a new car, and the thought that they won't cover my car, because it stills at the level it should have in the first place. I don’t have a sig. up yet but I have a GT, Lowered 2.2 with progress springs, Injen CAI, GReddy exhaust, tints and mad style.

I have Progressive insurance as well and I have never seen anything about lowered cars in there. I might have to do a check on this. I have Hotchkis springs that I am going to be installing soon.

sorry I made you all worry a bit, the insurance doen't cover cars that are lowered or raised more than 4in. so it's all goodI still have to call and ask about the CAI but it should be all right. oh ya don't ever say you race your car

As far as I know the supercharger being a factory direct item, and shortly being offered as an option from the factory, should be all good, I'll call tomarrow and ask about the CAI, sway bars, and strut bars, etc.. and see if I can gain and more insight...I did find out that I have a $1000 line of cash to replace aftermarket parts if I were to get in an accident. which covers anything bolted on the car, such as springs, exhaust, bike rake etc... no tinit thoughI'll post more once I find out.

There was a thread on MatrixOwners a little while back about this. Some guy had lowered his car just a little bit, and when he got into an accident, insurance dropped him after they inspected the car. Some insurance companies are like this, others don't have a problem with modified cars. There are even some companies out there that for an extra free, will actually cover your aftermarket mods with insurance as well should something happen to them! For a lot of this stuff, I think the whole "don't ask, don't tell" rule applies I have a Base Vibe, that's all they ever need to know

If I remember right, you can add coverage through Progressive for aftermarket parts and accessories. But I'll stick with Jon's theory of don't ask, don't tell.

I was able to save $250.00 a month with another insurance company

Not to change the subject, but style is spelled like this - s t y l e. So, if you have the word style in a phrase such as "and mad style" be sure it is spelled right.

Now that GT-X has changed his sig, I don't have to be embarassed by having him as a friend.

I took a look to my insurance. I read all the pages and nowhere they takl about modificated cars.Per what I read, I can drop my Vibe, add a CAI or a supercharger and all stuff like that.
