repair sticky door handle?

The right rear door handle on our 04 Vibe is "sticky"...when we open it, the handle doesn't travel outwards smoothly. Instead, it kind of comes halfway in one go, then pauses, then comes out fully the rest of the way and opens the door.
What's the best way to repair this?

I'd try to spray wit with some lithium grease.

That's what I was pondering. Wouldn't that leave residue though? It seems like it'd be hard to clean that, tight space, not much room to work with, etc...

Do you also have the rust line running down the paint on the rear door(s)?
